Who does Sage actually appeal to?

Let me just add...

Everyone always says the UFC needs superstars. But when they get behind anybody and try to promote them, fans bitch. When guys like Chael go out and do it on their own, people bitch. When neither the UFC nor the fighter themself does any real promotion, but they just get to the top by hard work and domination like Mighty Mouse, people bitch.

If you all want superstars, tell us, what is an acceptable way to breed these superstars? Because anything that has happened so far has been unacceptable by many of your standards.
 
his physique is that of what the common person thinks of when they think of someone who could kick their ass. also people love abs. remember mike the situation? his entire fame was based on lifting up his shirt and showing his stomach. sage has that and more.

Ronda is attractive, and she was an unstoppable badass - that brings in the male viewership. She's also a dominant woman in a male dominated sport - so that brings in the female viewership. Men and women of all ages have a reason to like Ronda.

Conor is super entertaining with his creative one-liners and quotables. He has an entire country behind him, alongside the majority of the neighboring nations like Scotland, England also jumping onto the wagon also. He was also an unstoppable badass - which brings in the males. He's a fashionable, confident, semi-attractive young man, who is going to therefore bring in the female audience.

So onto Sage!

Clearly he's not in the same stratosphere as Ronda/Conor, and by no means am I directly comparing. What I am doing is taking him as an example of someone who the UFC is trying extremely hard to turn into a star, the way they did with Ronda/Conor.

My question is, what the hell about him is even palatable?

I think he's actually quite annoying and comes off very naive and childish in the way he communicates. He lacks professionalism in his tone and just seems "happy to be there", which is cool, but he just feels so amateur. He spends more time talking about Texas A&M than MMA.

Who does he appeal to? Seriously!

Him being 20 doesn't help him. Not saying that women 25+ don't find 20 year old men attractive, but a slightly more mature man is always seen as more of a "man" and not a "boy" like Sage. Girls 25 and below are hardly the UFC's main demographic, if at all.

Him being 20 also doesn't help him with the male audience, I say this because I don't think there are many fighters we could say we've been dedicated to and hardcore supported from the age of 20, they still feel like kids at that stage.

The UFC force him down our throats like he has the "IT" factor, like there is just the right formula for him to succeed and be a huge star - I personally just don't see it.

Thoughts? Am I being too harsh? Do you agree with me?

Well, personally, I like his fighting style. I think it's unorthodox and this is pleasing to see. I also like his positive attitude and kindness. Good kid, with the possibility of a bright future ahead of him.

Besides, he's a handsome guy, so lots of ladies are obviously attracted by him. Not only that, the UFC clearly tries to promote him. That attracts haters who wanna see him lose - and they buy PPV as well.

The only thing that annoys me a bit is that he exaggerates on the shirtless pics and looks a bit childish. But I can live with that.

Dana and company is just using the same formula that any large company or corporation would use when they want to appeal to the most amount of people..... Companies have been using either pretty women or good looking guys to attach to THEIR brand...I am sure it is a tried and tested formula that is repeatedly used to sell whatever.
Maybe Dana knew that Sage would attract young girls to the UFC and that's why he did it, who knows?

I think most male MMA fans would rather see someone who looks like Tong Po, with scars all over his face and, a crooked cauliflower ear like JDS.

I was referring to that and the other million shirtless pictures, haha. I've checked his Instagram again though and apparently he's used that 40/40 to buy a couple of shirts.

Do pre-teen girls watch the UFC?

Is he worth that much of a push for a hope that he'll bring 10-15 year old girls into watching cage fighting?

Sounds ambitious.
 
His appeal is mostly to gay hipsters and also Trans like Caitlyn Jenner
