I don't think Volk has impenetrable TDD, still got taken down by Islam every round who might have underestimated it. Still impressive, I think Mosvar would beat him and be a favorite. I doubted Strickland too against Fluffy so maybe I'm just wrong about so many fighters not running into wrestlers.

I wouldn't pick Evloev, but he was more deserving than Lopes and we lose a contender whether he wins or loses against Murphy which is lame

Volk still looks great but its broadly two factors IMO 1) He's been technically so far ahead of the pack, even in athletic/speed decline he's still elite and 2) dude has one of the best MMA brains in history. He's got legendary fight IQ and makes good decisions and does it with confidence.

Movsar absolutely could out wrestle Volk for 3 of 5 rounds and get a decision. He is a gifted fighter in his own right, with a mismanaged career via UFC shenanigans.

Could Movsar pull that off 3-4 years ago? I would say probably not.

Evloev will get him down, but what do you honestly think he'll do with it? Volk wrestles back up exceptionally well. You aren't holding volk down unless you can take his back, which isn't something evloev really does, and certainly not at a high enough level.

Evloevs best bet is a non stip up and down type fight where even if volk gets back up, evloev just doesn't stop shooting over and over and striking in the transitions, just overwhelming old volk with pace and conditioning.

Volk doesn't have to worry about getting finished for once. Every other fighter he's faced has generally had some sort of finishing capability.

Movsar hasn't fought since 12/2004. He already just turned 32, which surprised me.
He is in his prime now, should still have improved a lot since Sterling.
We'll see how good/bad he looks vs Murphy. Then this discussing make more sense.

Pico is a tough fight for anyone in the world at 145 unless he gets chinned. But my god is that chin made of glass. Thats just the truth.

Volk vs Evloev is 50/50. Evloev is in his prime with all the momentum. Volk is more skilled but aging out.

What momentum is that? He never fights. I think its far from a 50/50 fight. Completely one dimensional wrestler against a guy who is built for defending wrestling. Evloev is going to be sliding down Volks legs on desperation shots. Late stoppage or clear decision win.
