I’m saying, native Americans have always been dark, why would you assume Jefferson was describing anything other than the natives we still see today???

It’s like this, there’s basically 2 possible conclusions:

1. Native Americans often have darker skin than normal, some much darker than others. Jefferson was describing these people.

2. There’s a massive cover up and people of African decent were the real native Americans but we’re all wiped out the. Systematically whitewashed out of history.

Which of these sounds more realistic???

Also, nothing in that picture disqualified native Americans as we know them today. Their skin could be as dark as an Ethiopian, that’s likely all they meant....thick black hair??? Sure, lots of natives have it....short hair??? People have been cutting their hair forever.

Remember in those days, people weren’t really experts on all the races of the world, u could easily see him looking around and thinking “hey these guys are dark hair like those Ethiopians we met”....
