Whiskey, War, Suicide, and Guns

1/6/08 - Sunday - ME Lower

Squat:
135x5
185x5
225x5
275x3
315x3
335x1
365x3 (Rep PR)

The Inzer is like having Mariusz Pudzinowski and Bill Kazmaier spotting you at the same time. I have some hellacious bruises forming on the top of my hips. Next week I will squat 425, I can feel it.

Power Clean:
135x5
135x5
185x5

My form feels good on this. Haven't done them in awhile.

Deadlift:
225x3
315x3
405x1
455x1
405x1

Just wanted to do some moderate weight pulls in the Inzer belt. First off, the speed pulls against bands from a deficit have helped tremendously. The weight flew up. Secondly, the Inzer needs broken in better because it really cramped my style on these. It was riding off my back, and I had trouble sinking down far enough with my hips at the start because it was digging in.

DB Bulg SS (front foot elevated):
10x50's
12x50's
12x55's

45 Degree Back Raise:
3x12x50

Zombie Decline Sit Ups (thanks liquid!):
3x15x45 plate

Have you ever tried sumo? Good squatters who pull shitty seem to have better luck with sumo.

I'll have fucked around with it a bit. It would probably work with my body type better (short arms, etc). I have had several back issues/injuries so I'm more concerned with fixing imbalances and getting my back stronger. I'll work with sumo seriously once I hit 500 on a conventional dl.

Maybe you should do Zero races to 500 squat, Enright races to 500 deadlift.

Matt W. response was not that helpful. It was obvious from his response that he was not really sure why he was doing a DE pressed like he did (except that is what Westside advocates).

I followed up, asking the signifigance of maintaining equal TUT, and he came back at me with the Law of Specificity: Train under the conditions of competition. Which, to me, reinforces my point. So, anyways, I will continue to train speed bench with a pause. I also found this very question answered at the EliteFTS Q&A a few times, and the reply was always in favor of using a pause if you lift in meets under IPF rules.

I think that make sense. There is a USAPL meet in St. Louis in March and I think I'm going to enter.

Also SSB = very hard.

I will be in a USAPL meet March 29 in Cleveland. They have a raw division so I'm good to go. I actually spent most of my afternoon zoned out at my desk and drew up a 10 week training cycle for the meet I'll start Jan 21.

Also SSB = very hard.

Pussy.
