Whiskey, War, Suicide, and Guns

Last I checked, that was more than you.

*stands by with burn cream*

I've got nothing since he pwns my squat and deadlift. Being someone who hates bench press, it's kind of a depressing thing to be better at.

6/3/08 - Tuesday - Recovery

Treadmill: 30min 3.8mph @ 3%
Squat: 132x20x2
DB Bench: 50'sx20x2

These days bore me to tears, but I always feel refreshed almost immediately afterwards so I suck it up and try to focus on not looking at the clock on the treadmill.

Yeh 30 minutes doing the same thing (especially at a low intensity) is boring. I like to look around the gym and try and make eye contact with hot chicks.

6/4/08 - Wednesday - Lower 2

Deadlift (no belt):
396+90c x3x5 @8,8,9,9,9

Pause Squat (no belt):
275x5x5 @8,8,8,8.5,9

GHR:
BW+10x10x5

ChinsMOTHERFUCKER:
BWx5x6

KB Side Bend:
24kgx12x3

Hanging Leg Raise:
BWx12x3

The deadlifts were a fucking killer with almost 500 pounds at the top for triples and no belt. I think cycling these in will help my lockout, which is definetely my weak point in pulling. Trying to stay more on my heels at the beginning of the pull and focus on fucking the bar at the top.

I feel like I never have anything to say when I read your log except that you're a beast.

That's great volume man. How long does all of that take you?

You could make fun of me for probably only being able to do 10 chin ups.

About 90 minutes today, though the end was filled with lots of bullshitting and spotting a guy in bench. The main 2 lifts take the longest, I rested about 3-4 minutes between sets on the deadlifts. The rest I fly through, ususally supersetting a few things at a time. I did the chins in between squat sets, for example.

Man, that would take me forever. Good job man, I need to work on getting more volume but a little quicker. I don't know where the time goes when I work out.

345x1 @9
365x1 @9.5
375x1 @10

Incline Bench:
215x5x5 @8,9,9,8,10

Tate Press:

45'sx10x2

KB Row:

40kgx12x1

Mini-Band Pull Apart:
5 sets of 15ish

BB Curl:
95x3 sets of whatever

This was supposed to be Friday's workout, but I have to go out tomorrow night. Today went well. I wanted to hit a 365 on the bench, so I was pleasantly surprised by the 375. I locked that fucker out, but about halfway up it started cruising way over my face but I salvaged it. Not pretty, but a good lift. With about 50 pounds off the bottom and 10 off the top, I feel like I can bench a 325 right now. Very happy about the way things are going in this department. I really like the KB rows instead of DB rows. The handle is fatter which is harder on the grip, and you get more ROM because the plates don't hit your ribs like a dumbell. We have KB's up to 100kg (they are comically gigantic) so perhaps this will replace DB's for my back work.

Do you have a spotter on the bench?

Hell yes, haha. I actually don't know his exact last name, but his first name is Tod and he's squatted 1040 in the APF. I've been getting help from another guy who lifts in the APF on my form which has went along way towards my bench not sucking. There's about half a dozen multi-ply guys in my gym, and me another kid are the only USAPL guys there. He's lifting this Saturday at the Pete Lanzi meet in Cleveland which I will go watch. It's quite nice having people who know their shit around me now.

The new gym I joined has about 12 APF guys, and a couple of 1000 pound double ply squatters.

Everyone asks me if I powerlift. When I say in the USAPL, they respond with "is that a tested federation?" Me - "Yes." APF guy - "That sucks."

It's happened 3 times in the last 2 weeks with different dudes.

LOL, yeah I know. I get the "no monolift, right?" all the time.
