Opinion Which US state do you want to become an independent country?

Get rid of all those middle America states that no one gives a fuck about.

This. I took a road trip to the midwest last year and it was undoubtedly the WHACKEST trip I have ever been on. LMAO this is the great Americana all those hicks constantly gloat about? Life there is fucking boring and miserable as fuck and the weed sucked ass too. All those bible belt hicks are just jealous of cities like LA and NYC because they've never left their small shit hole town. I'll take homeless transgender crackheads & arrogant hipsters over fat obnoxious bible thumpers any day!

I work as an RN and run into crazy hobos and druggies often, you would be surprised how many are actually from the Midwest red states.

The issue with California is it has great weather all year round, especially near the coast. If you're going to be a homeless drug addict would you rather be on the street in bumfuck Oklahoma or California in the winter? Not that I condone any of it seeing as they have made SOME parts of cities in California complete shit. In general California isn't this giant "shithole" all these poor dimwits from red states who have never left their towns will tell you it is.

Fix your shitty states and maybe California wouldn't have to subsidize you or your crazy people flocking here.

All the leeching right wing shitholes
We should disown Alabama. Backwards hell hole that just drags us down.
Alabama, Mississippi, Arkansas, Louisiana, Tennessee, and Kentucky. Worthless. Should cut the fat off.
Fucking Texas.
They feel like they're a country unto themselves, let Texas do Texas.

Interesting.

This doesn't hold water.

In Seattle where it rains all the fucking time, we have the same homeless problem.

Here is the truth.

Local law enforcement started shipping all the homeless people on the grey hound bus circuit.

California, Oregon, and Washington State became sanctuary states for the homeless. We won't bust you for loitering, or drugs, arrest you, and give you the choice of a jail visit or grey hound bus ticket.

Normally I would applaud their bleeding hearts, but then they decided to start making lawless sanctuaries, where these people that our bleeding hearts should want to help, are being victimized in a hellish mad Max landscape by each other.

What's the solution?

Fuck if I know. Let me know if you figure it out.

I'd definitely be fine with CA seceding and being prohibited from traveling to the U.S...

Don't compare Seattle to SF or LA please it's nowhere near as bad there as it is in SF or LA. It's a symptom of a bigger issue. Many folk flock these areas for the reasons you posted and in CAs case the weather is a big factor.

Think of it this way. To jail someone for shit like this would cost the taxpayer how much per year like 60k? That's not including any medical expenses that my happen during their jailtime. Lets say there's no needle exchange program where a single 50 cent needle prevents the contraction or HIV or Hep C from sharing, do you know what the cost is for these meds once someone has contracted this shit? It's a band aid that saves money in the meantime, but not a solution.

It's ridiculous. Don't forget in the US you cant refuse anyone medical treatment. Here's another kicker, the ones who do pay are the ones subsidizing all this which is why everything is so expensive in the US regarding to medical care. Why do people turn to drugs or homelessness? Many are nuts and would otherwise be instotutionalizin, some lost their jobs due to outsourcing..how many greedy companies in these red states have moved their facilities to "save money" and lost the locals their jobs and healthcare coverage?

There is no simple solution, but please stop blaming it all on the "evil blue states" that cause everyone to become a hobo drug addict.

First. It started getting better here recently slightly, when the public outrage was building. It was as bad as SF, but not as bad as skid row from what I have seen. SF and Seattle are much more comparable in Size, then LA and Seattle, so I don't think the skid row comparison is even valid.

As to your second point. I get it. But let's not pretend this is about our bleeding hearts then. Because from your defense it sounds like it is about money, and not helping these people.

I have seen it first hand. I don't care what the intention is, these lawless homeless communities are barbaric, and I will not support them. If my choice is the Billy club or the Greyhound bus ticket, or mad Max city, I'm going to have to vote for the Billy club and grey hound ticket.

Fyi, what I would rather support is making big pharma pay for every homeless program to your heart's content.

California, to watch the South eat itself alive as they can no longer afford to take care of their own.

I like Hawaii, but it seems to make the most sense as an independent country. When my dad lived there, they used to talk about the Continental US like it was a foreign country anyway.
Sounds like they need a hefty dose of freedom!

It's not about these states being "bleeding hearts" it's a public health issue. You can't have HIV and hep c being rampant out in any community. You also can't just throw people in jail for being homeless it doesn't work that way, and btw people do get arrested for the "lawlessness" you mentioned such as attacking others and whatnot, I don't condone any of of that.

Like I said it's a symptom of a bigger issue that pointing fingers at "blue states" isn't going to fix. I do agree with the big pharma comment.

I'd be fine with that too. I want the midwest and southern scum to get the fuck out of my state. I'll be more than glad to help them pack and send them back to their swamp and backwards hellholes.

Texas because I might consider moving there if it does.

It's native Californians that are leaving your socialist paradise and flocking to states like TX...

Probably a lot of Florida bugs bunny gifs ITT, but truthfully I wouldn’t mind. We’d float down nicely towards the Bahamas and Turks and Caicos. While you guys freeze your balls off we will be sitting pretty at our new land bridge between Paradise Island and Grace Bay

somewhere like Nebraska or Kansas as it would be funny since they are right in the middle of the US

It seems that most of the chronic homeless, the ones using the most services, are literally train wrecks. People with multiple psycho/social disorders along with multiple medical co-morbidities. For the most part these are not people who are going to bootstrap themselves into the working world.

Certainly there is also a cadre of wonderers that may have skipped out on a DUI charge in Ohio or something but those are a different type.

A lot of the chronic homeless wind up on the west coast because people are nicer there and society is more understanding. There are more programs and such.
