GLORY Which fighters should GLORY Kickboxing sign?

They need to get more heavyweights. Surely there are more top tier Dutch/Brazilian/Russian HW kickboxers out there to be signed up just to mention a few countries. Most of Rico's defences in the past 5 years are against guys who have been around the scene a really long time, no disrespect to Rico. Wrzosek should also be re-signed.

I'd rather a lethwei and muay thai beast sign with ONE, instead of signing with Glory and not being able to use half of their weapons.
I might say no if it was any other division. For women they essentially only have Van Soest and bringing in anyone that's even remotely interesting even just for a single fight is fine.

I suppose, but wouldn't you rather see her vs Meksen with all weapons enabled though?

Not an option for Glory apparently.

I think Kryklia has not much left to prove at ONE championship and he would be great for Glory. The opposite is true for Petch, what would be left for him after fighting Beztati?
Maybe Glory and ONE should consider swapping fighters? What do you think?

Yeah that’s something many of us have suggested before. That switch will give both fighters big opportunities and will result in some potential interesting matchups.
It also benefits us kickboxing fans:D

Also had the chance to meet GLORY heavyweight Jahfarr Wilnis at GLORY 83. He expects to be in the ring in April. Who would you like to see as his opponent? I would like to see him against Benjamin Adegbuyi again.
Adegbuyi will always be a fun fight, but they already fought 3 times with Benny winning all three. Looks like Adegbuyi is in a decline though (or not, he just lost to two of the best guys around who also hit very hard), so maybe the fight will go different this time around.
Before he left GLORY, I always wanted to see Arek Wrzosek fight Jahfarr Wilnis. With the current landscape of the heavyweight division I’ll say give Jahfarr a fight against Raul Cătinaș, which should be a fun scrap. A fight against Tariq Osaro also stands out to me, potentially to build up Cookie or to get Wilnis back in the mix.

By the way, where has Roël Mannaart been hanging out the last three years? He didn’t fight since his TKO loss against Sergej Maslobojev in 2020. The future looked bright for him with a record of 26-3 at the age of 26 being a K1 heavyweight champion fighting his way up in GLORY.
Same goes for D’Angelo Marshall, where is he? No fights since his decision loss against Adegbuyi in late 2019

It was not just about money. They offered him a lot of money. Francis wanted to be a free agent while in UFC contract, basically be able to box in between his UFC fights + also have his own sponsors instead of the forced UFC sponsors + medical insurance covered by the UFC in case of injuries + a few other things. The UFC definitely refused those other side requests and just offered him more money to stay but Francis declined.

So the reason he didn't stay in the UFC wasn't just about wanting more money but because he had specific contractual requests that the UFC refused to grant (most likely because it would then also mean them having to grant those to the rest of their roaster).

I also struggle to see how Glory could offer him more than the UFC, not just in terms of money but overall.

Glory of course wants to gain popularity in North America. Why not sign Tyrone Spong now? He would be a great addition

Today, a new podcast of “Vechtersbazen” was uploaded. Robbie Timmers, GLORY matchmaker and head of talent was there as a guest. One of the things he mentioned, is that he does keep an eye on what fans want to see and he also mentioned Sherdog. So let’s keep discussing potential fights :)

Below a summary of the podcast

- Badr Hari is in contact with GLORY about his future. It is unlikely that his fight against Overeem was his last one in the GLORY ring.

- GLORY is talking to Francis Ngannou and there is interest from both sides. However, both sides are far apart in their expectations. To be continued?

- Sergej Maslobojev protests against his loss against Donegi Abena because of doctor stoppage. Robbie Timmers admitted that he thought it was stopped quite early. However, Glory always hires external judges and also a doctor that is licensed properly according to the rules in the country that the event is organized in. This can of course lead to inconsistencies in the decisions made by the doctors, but I think we can all understand that GLORY relies on the advice given by the licensed doctor.

- Robbie was positive about GLORY83 and named the Peposhi-Chikh Mousa, Khachab and Ozcaglayan as highlights. He was disappointed in the Wisse-Almeida fight, as well as the fact that Almeida was too heavy at the weigh-in while knowing about the fight 2 months in advance.

- Lutterbach missed his weigh-in with just 200 grams. He got a chance to lose weight, but could not even stand up straight, so the doctor decided to not let him fight. He used his time at the event to scream and motivate Almeida from the side.

- Kryklia is not available for GLORY because he has a contract at ONE. It is therefore unlikely that we will see him with GLORY any time soon.

- Because there are more GLORY events on a yearly basis again, we can expect many new talents in the ring the upcoming time.

- There will an Ultimate fighter-like series/documentary with GLORY fighters that will be made together with Dutch streaming service Videoland.

- The Kickbox level and level in standing fights in MMA in the USA is improving according to Robbie. This would make it easier for fighters to make the switch to GLORY. We can expect to see many new names in the near future.

- When asked about a possible fight between Gökhan Saki and Melvin Manhoef, he did not want to tell anything about a possible fight. However, he has contact with both fighters, so there is definitely hope :)

Let’s see what the future brings!
