Which charity would you donate and focus on the most?

I wouldn’t donate to any organization but if I had Musk money I’d start my own non-profit providing free lunch to every k-12 school kid in America

Making children pay for lunch or go hungry is a crime against humanity

I used to donate monthly to the British Heart Foundation and to a children's society. A member from each would come up to my Dads old maisonette and pitch. I also used to be quite generous to the homeless.

Being kicked out, being desperate for money and living in Ealing hardened my heart and put an end to it. When you see the same people near the entrance of the London Underground month after month, and keep hearing about beggar gangs making a salary twice the wage that you're making, it had an effect.

As a business owner, we are hit up constantly for donations/sponsorships. I never have a problem giving to youth sports. Some of the other organizations really annoy me honestly, and when you get involved with them, it would probably annoy you even more. The sales pitch that I heard from United Way really turned me off to that organization. Our % of donation going to the cause vs. overhead was way off. They came in and said it was perfectly acceptable and we need to present it in a different way. Non-profits are a business like any other, and self preservation is their first concern.

Would you like to donate to my cause, you're get the free t-shirt "I don't eat disabled birds".... I think we've already had 68 donations so you'll get a big 69 on the back........ It's available in white or black, there's also a cool brown and yellow one too....

If there's one that makes cyborg limbs for innocent little kids and military vets.

How do they come at you, and what are ways you can ignore them or tell them not interested?

I can speak a little on this.....my business gets dozens of requests per month.

It's set up where all those requests happen online, so it's easy for me to kindly tell them to submit the request through the website instead. Half of them won't even do that and the other half don't follow up if I elect to not participate.

Most of the legitimate ones get approved in the end but no I'm not giving you free prizes for your neighborhood block party.

I’d give to a good cause…..cause I like nice shit!

In all seriousness though probably “the innocence project”.

As an aficionado of coke and hookers... I'll give to the local sex workers and drug dealers.

That would only run you around 70 billion dollars per year....presuming there's exactly 0 fraud and waste.

Are there any legit charities? It seems like they all take so much of the donation money that there's nothing left.

If I had a lot of money, I always felt like the move would be to try and benefit people directly. Like go around your city to all the low income apartment complexes and pay everyone's rent for a year, help people in your city and then expand from there.

Well in my line of work, the people volunteering on these boards are possibly my customers as my customers are typically business owners, bankers, realtors, etc. A lot of times they are going to get a donation from me honestly. If I'm declining, I can literally tell them all of the things that I recently sponsored or donated to. My guess is that I give $5,000+ to youth sports per year. I'd say other donations and sponsorships total to around $3,000. I'm a small company.

Is it out of the ordinary to just refuse giving donations outright?
