Miocic has way better resume:
DC > Nog
Ngannou > Mirko
Werdum > Coleman
Overeen> Randleman
JDS > Brett Rogers
Title fight wins:
Miocic - 6
Fedor - 4
In global relevance UFC > Pride
In the imagination of nostalgic fans Fedor is undeniably greater than Miocic due to his "aura" - a totally subjective and not very objective factor
Yes, he was a more iconic fighter, but only because there were no fighters on his level
I don't think that the time of undefeated (beating one-dimensional Japanese fighters 90% of the time) should be such a decisive factor
I like how you ignore the 3 UFC champs Fedor murked. Tim, AA, Mir were the 3 long standing top UFC guys during Fedors era and he destroyed all of them.
Here is why Fedor is a step above
Went 33 fights with no legitimate losses
Did it in the span of 10 years
Did while facing double digit top 10 opponents
Did it while facing double digit legends WHILE in their prime
Beat the best fighters across the TWO top orgs
Did it all while being the smaller opponent every time
Did it while fight kill or be killed
After 14 years, Stipe still needs 8 fights in order to match the number of fights Fedor had before he lost. Even if he did his record would still be riddled with loses
This is the reality of the resumes without going into full detail. Just looking at best wins
Stipes Resume
Werdum is the best win. Absolute solid win.
DC wins are ok but DC was old and small
Reem was not at his peak but still decent
He lost to JDS in his prime and only won when JDS was out of prime
He beat Ngannou when Ngannou was very 1 dimensional
Fedors resume
Beat Nog who was considered head and shoulders above the rest.
Crocop was a far better striker with better tdd than Francis. Fedor beat him in a ring where cro cop is at his best
Tim was 1 fight removed from a UFC title fight (the fight was v Nog)
AA was at his Absolute peak. He was on a sick run which included beating Werdum, Nelson, Rothwell.
Coleman & Randleman were both still good. These are equivalent to Stipes win over Econoreem. (Basically decent wins over good but aging fighters)
