Sitting here thinking about where to go to next in 26, and I’m really wanting to visit sub-Saharan Africa, since I’ve never been to that part of the world. Go back to the birthplace of us all(I think so at least) and feel the soil between my toes.

Have you been? Do you want to go? If so, where did you go, or where would you choose? Not interested in making this a “Africa is a dump” type of discussion. If you hated it, or wouldn’t go, that’s fine, but I want some more positive thinking in here, if that’s possible… this is Sherdog after all.

Thinking about Kenya or Uganda, but not super familiar with the continent and its little quirks, but I’ve been feeling this “pull” inside telling me to go for the last few years. Sounds strange, but it’s what it is.

I really want to see that massive new museum in Egypt.

And I want to get eat around Morocco.

No real interest in sub Saharan Africa though. Not much of a nature guy
Ah, that is understandable then. Never going back to Egypt myself. That is a one-and-done time for me. No interest in going back to North Africa after that, though Morocco does sound intriguing. Still.. Never going back lol.

i seriously doubt any of us wish we had stayed in Africa. I have no wishs to go there.

I live in Kenya. It's not too bad here. I live in a nice spot with a nice safari nearby, so during tourist season there are people coming from all over the world. But also there are lots of foreigners/westerners around who live here permanently. Most people here speak at least decent English. In the big cities there is some decent shopping. Places like Mombasa on the coast have really beautiful beaches and resorts and are worth a visit for sure. Food/Restaurants are up and down, it's tough finding places that consistently provide quality. I go on safari and yeah, you see a lot of cool animals like elephants and rhinos up close. Kenyan people by and large are very nice and friendly, but you gotta be a little guarded because they do steal and grift when they get a chance (There is a lot of terrible poverty here too). Weather is always pretty decent, it's hot and sunny most days but not too humid. It's a beautiful country with lots of impressive scenery. I'd say it's one of the better tourist destinations in Africa for sure.

Nice post. Thanks for the information. Kenya is one of my top three choices, so it is good to hear a little about it from someone there.

Don't mind what you have stated, since I am naturally very guarded anyway. Especially in foreign countries with a good amount of poverty. Kenya seems fairly easy to function in as a westerner too, so that is a plus.
