Where does Poatan go from here?

I also think that rematching Ank is risky, because another loss is him getting outclassed on the feet, again.

I put going down to MW as an option but i was never interested in that myself.

Him coming off a loss shouldn't get him auto title shot against Jon or Aspinall and seeing the problems he had here, it's probably gonna be worse for him up there, unless he wanna cash out.


What do you think he should do? Even if he does beat Ank, is that a waste of time, considering his age and limited time left?

Me personally, I'd rather he just take exciting/big fights 3-4 more tops then call it a remarkable career. A part of me for the wouldn't mind seeing him try to make history by going for the HW title but I don't see that being realistic at his age. His tdd impressed me, but he just doesn't have the time left to get comfortable mixing the striking with being ready to stop td's.

He’s old. He should go for broke in the rematch against Ank. Either he pulls it off and continues the run or retires with another loss. The triple belt dream remains just a dream, as both Tom and Jon would probably murk him bad.

I would like for him to move to HW before too late and extend his career. But he'll probably decide to rematch Ankalaev.

I don't want to see him drop down and fight DDP at MW. There's really no one else at LHW besides Krylov or Rakic for fresh matches, neither seems like a fun fight.

At HW Pereira will have a speed advantage over most and besides Jones or Almeida, everyone else is a glorified striker. Or at least not on Ankalaevs level of wrestling.

It would cause it's another loss. But would he be any further back than he is now?? Not really. The option now is to fight Ankalaev in the rematch or fight another LHW contender and then a rematch. But if he gets the instant rematch and loses, he's gonna get another top contender anyways if he continues fighting. So what is the point in risking a direct rematch and title shot in fighting another contender??

If the fight is offered, just take it.

However the UFC probably wants to make a bag on an immediate rematch
