Where does Leon Rank all time at WW. Top 5?

For me it's

1. GSP
2. HUGHES
3. USMAN

Then... nobody else really did enough imo, top 3 not top 5.

1) GSP
2) Hughes
3) Woodley
4) Usman
5) Lawler/Leon

Yes Usman beat Woodley but Woodley beating Robbie, WB, Maia, and Till WHEN HE DID is more impressive than Usman beating Masdival twice, Colby twice and Burns WHEN HE DID.

IMHO.

I'm still pissed at Burns for the Usman fight. He kicks Usman in the head, visibly hurts Usman and instead of trying to finish the job with strikes or attempt to takedown Usman he decides to flop on his back and invite Usman into his guard. Usman of course doesn't do this and gets time to recover because the ref has to tell Burns to get back on his feet. Low ass fight IQ. Usman then recovers and knocks Burns out in the next round.
The thing about Woodley is that those wins over WB and Maia are considered some of the worst fights in mma history that made GSPs worst fights look like bloodbaths. Leaves a 1 rd ko over Robbie and Till as his most memorable wins. But his best fight was WB1 so I guess it does add little bit to his legacy.

They should've made Woodley fight someone. He took a shit on the division after beating Lawler.

Much rather have seen Lawler v Wonderboy
Why? DW promised him something and he stuck to his guns and made the UFC pay up and spectacularly capitalized on it.

And what are you talking about?
He fought 4 title fights in a calendar year. The Robbie, WB, WB and Maia fights were all done within a calendar. He was by far one of the most active champs in history and then he hurt his shoulder against Maia and that slowed down his fight schedule.

And well frankly after seeing how WB fought against Woodley I didn't want WB anywhere near the title. WB will happily stare at you a whole fight and never move forward. Counter strikers have very boring fights when their opponents don't rush forward.

WB vs Woodley 1 was an instant classic and that was because of Woodley. All the highlights of the first fight were of Woodley besides 1 kick that grazed Woodley's neck.

The second fight was atrocious but once again the only highlights and action that took place was done by Woodley. WB really thought he could avoid fighting and win a title.

And I still don't understand why the hate in the Maia fight. He literally tore his rotator cuff in the first round and with 1 arm outstruck Maia and defended something like 21 of 21 TD attempts by Maia. Yeah so the fight wasn't the best because Woodley fought injured for over 22 minutes and Maia still couldn't initiate offense against a 1 arm man.

So many people want to shit on Woodley but give WB and Maia passes who also have some historically bad fights with other fighters. Maia vs Silva was trash because Silva didn't respect Maia and Maia couldn't do anything about it. Do I really need to bring up Till vs WB where Till just won based off activity? Yeah WB is exciting when his opponents play his game but if he doesn't have an oppo8 that plays his game WB has trash fights. That's just the life of a counter striker.

Maia did have share of his bad fights as well. But that Woodley fight was downright terrible I just cant see it otherwise.
I dont hate Woodley as he seems like okay dude compared to the absolute shitheads we have running all over the globe. I used to dislike him but I think history will be kinder to him than I would have thought several years ago.
Im okay with TWood n.2 spot just because seems like a better guy than Usman or Hughes. Haters gonna hate.

I try my hardest to separate the fighter from the person. Take Anthony Smith for example. I think he's an awesome person but just because I like him personally doesn't mean I'm going to give him a pass on being frankly a sub par fighter that should've been given the pick slip from the UFC and sent to another organization after Glover literally knocked his teeth out. The UFC has cut better fighter who were ranked higher for less.

On the flip side I never ever really liked McGregor. But just because I don't like McGregor doesn't mean he wasn't a HOF fighter during this run. I can't let my personal opinion of McGregor taint my view of him as a fighter.

great timing alowed leon to be champion but he was never a champion level fighter

dude got rocked by jurassic nate diaz at ww

Outside of his wins over Usman an Colby, he hasn't really beaten any top WWs. I would say he's #5 at best

GSP, Usman, Hughes, Woodley are a lock in top 4. Then you got Lawler in the mix too. So either #5 or 6

I want to be this way too but I just cant anymore. Maybe someday

Probably the worst fighter to hold the WW strap thus far.

Woodleys lieing about the extent of the injury. There’s a reason he didn’t get surgery and opted to not go to an orthopedist. He even wanted to fight Nate Diaz right after, but once they opted to not make that fight. Suddenly Woodley back to being injured and wanted surgery which wasn’t even a big deal.

He did get surgery. He got surgery that December. That's why they made the IC WW title fight between Colby and RDA.

And Woodley explained why he would fight Nate before getting surgery. He said Nate wasn't a wrestler so he wouldn't be defending TD and it would be be a mainly striking match.

Now in all fairness if you've ever wrestled before you know how much pressure sprawling puts on your shoulders. So in that instance that makes sense. But striking with a shoulder injury at best is uncomfortable and at worst painful. This i know from experience. I injured my shoulder playing football in high school. Nothing major. I tried boxing in my 20s and after my second training session I literally couldn't move my left arm. I reinjured my old shoulder injury during circuit we were doing. So in that instance it doesn't make sense. Woodley originally injured his shoulder/rotator cuff punching Maia with an overhand right. So to tell me that he could strike with a shoulder that needed surgery is super suspect.

What I think it was was that Woodley was not going to miss out on that payday that fighting Nate would bring. So it was calculation of risk vs reward. Nate was worth fighting with the injury. RDA and Colby weren't. And Woodley would go on to absolutely obliterated Till that August.

Leon is on a bit of a slide. Let's see if he can turn it around. It might be a case of him getting lazy after becoming the champ. His career isn't over yet.

1/2) Usman/GSP
3)Woodley
4)Leon
5)Hughes

Leon beating Usman is better than almost all GSPs wins.
As a Leon fan (as much as one can be) he is not top 5. Robbie is above him. GSP is above everyone

How do people have Leon top 5? LOL WTF. He might not be top 10 he surely ain't top 5

If Belal hasn't already surpassed him he will for sure if he beats Jack.
