NFL Where do we put Russell Wilson?

Doug Williams

comp %....49.6
TD.INT....100/93
Passer rating....69.4

Those are about as bad as I;ve ever seen, in a word.....terrible.

Yes the guy had an amazing SB it was incredible, but........Terry Bradshaw won 4 SB;, Dan Marino 0, so....so much for that.

Getting back to Russell Wilson.

Lets say he plays two more seasons, has his usual 25ish td/3500 yards, that is another 50 and 7000. That will put him at.....number 9 in TD passes, number 12 in yards.

Add his top 5 in rushing, TD.INT ratio, career passer rating, How can this cat not be in that top 15?

AND.....10 pro bowls, number 12 in wins.

Hall of Famers.....Dan Marino, John Unitas, Warren Moon, Jim Kelly, Fran Tarkenton, Dan Fouts all have inferior stats and never won a SB,

All these QB's today play against far better athletes than those old timers faced. Not unlike Don Hutson who totally dominated his era unlike anyone has ever dominated, But,,......look at what he faced on defense, no 4,4 cats back there in his day.

Take this Russell Wilson time machine him back to the 60's, think what he would do vs those defense, hell,,,,,Barry Sanders in 1966, ouch~~~~~~~~~~~ Saqoun Barkley in 1976,

Big Daddy Lipscomb was a monster in his day all 6-6 285 of him, there are HS kids bigger than that today.

Not to clutter up the board with another thread.

Saw something about Tyreek Hill to the Cowboys, don't know if that is legit or not. But......got me thinking about speed in the NFL, as we know Hill is without question among the fastest current gang of speedsters.

So just how fast was Hill, as a HS kid he ran 10.19/20.14....the second fastest in HS history (Roy Martin 20.13) then off to Garden City JC, as a JCer he was second in the nation to a cat at Coffeyville named Andre DeGrasse a Canadian, he would star at USC and win Olympic medals, a 200m Champion.

After Garden City it was Oklahoma State there he pretty much gave sprinting up, did a little indoors. Not sure when he ran that 9.9windy. I have no doubts if he'd taken sprinting seriously at the NCAA level he runs 9.95ish/19.95ish.

There have been 18 former Olympic sprinters play pro football, and here they are.

Ollie Matson USF/Rams
Frank Budd WR9.2 Villanova/Eagles
Ray Norton WR9.3 SJS/Niners
Stone Johnson WR20.5 Grambling/Texans (Chiefs to be).....was injured preseason he died.
Trenton Jackson Illinois/Eagles
Bob Hayes 11 times WR/Oly gold FAMU/Cowboys
Henry Carr WR 20.3/Oly gold ASU/Giants.....They brought him in to run with Hayes, a DB

Jim Hines/Tommie Smith were failed experiments, total....busts.

Larry Burton Purdue/Saints
Gerald Tinker Kent State/Falcons
Johnny Jones Texas/Jets
Ron Brown ASU/Rams
Sam Graddy Tenn/Broncos
Michael Bates Arizona/Seahawks
James Jett WV/Raiders
Willie Gault Tenn/Bears
Javid Best Cal/Lions

A couple long jumpers a couple hurdlers also,

Where does he stack up all time? I could not say. He’ll be a HoF candidate, but I doubt he makes anyone’s Mt. Rushmore of QB’s.

When it comes to Wlson we have to look at the combination of everything.

Superbowl champion, a yard away from winning two.
10 pro bowls in 13 seasons
top 15 in all the stats or will be
has a few NFL firsts

Yep, without question/debate top 15.

I'm not saying he's in the top 10 obviously not a Mount Rushmore candidate. But, he does belong in the top 15 all time.

His numbers/accomplisments are superior to a lot of Hall of Famers.

Kinda hoping he ends up with the Giants, that will only help his career numbers since he'll be passing a lot being behind al the time.

Yep, selfish on my behalf.

His third NFL season, one yard away from winning two Superbowls, but stilL has more Superbowls wins than Hall of Famers....

Dan Marino
Warren Moon
Dan Fouts
Fran Tarkenton
John Unitas
Jim Kelly

,....................COMBINED~~~~~~~~~~

You need one yard to win another Superbowl, and secure your legacy.

Should you:

A) Go along with the coaches play, a bizarre slant pass.

or

B) Change the play to a simple run play with your unstoppable running back named "beast mode".

I guess this is quite easy to answer in hindsight, but it was pretty easy to answer during the game too.

Third year QB, already in position to win ANOTHER Superbowl not wanting to gamble being the reason you lost by going aganst the coach.

He did what most YOUNG QB would do.

Bottom line is according to his numbers including wins, here is a top 15 QB all time. If he plays one more season he will be in the top 10 in all time wins. Winning being more important than anything else.

Looking at the Giants 2025 schedule., they might win 4 games if they get some luck.

Going 1-5 in divsion, might beat Dallas at home, maybe.

I do think the Steelers will regret letting him go, I look for Rogers to be a headache and speaking of regret they will regret bringing this gumply old man in.

BUT.....this will help all Wilsons numbers. There won't be many just run the ball run the time out.

Never got that Seahawk deal , in 2020 he was vote by the players the number.....2....best player in the NFL, his last Seahawk season he was a pto bowlers, yep....???

If we took .....

10 pro bowls
2 Superbowls
5 500 yard rushing seasons
8 64 or bettr comp% seasons
4 4000 yard passing seasons
8 less than 10 INT seasons
5 30 or more TD seasons
7 100 or better passer ratings seasons

That gives Wilson a.....49.

What QB had a higher total?

Keep in mind he did that in 13 seasons.

Was going to compare the careers of Wilson vs Eli Manning, didn't take long to figure out it's not close, all Russell Wilson.

damn, a one year contract for $21 million?
really?

Wilson ineeds two more seasons with 25 and 25 TD passes, very doable to pass Mat Ryan into 8th place all time. He needs two 3500 seasons another doable to pass Ekway into 12th all time in yards. Needs 4 wins to become number 10 all time in wins.

His TD/INT ratio and Passer Rating already a top 5 that should stay there as will his 4th in QB rushing.

As we can see the guy is among the all time greats because he does belong.

NFL firsts....

First QB to put up 100 passer ratings his first two seasons
First QB to rush for over 5000 yards and pass for over 45,000 yards, yep, best dual purpose QB we have seen.

I don't expect the Giants to do much no matter who is at QB, but.....do expect Wilson to put up big numbers which happens always playing from behind. Good teams can run the ball to run out the clock, protect that lead, that won't be the Giants,
