When should Dana strip Jon Jones from his HW title?

When should Dana strip Jon Jones from his HW title?

There is an absolutely solid basis for stripping him. He has had the title 3 years and has zero defenses against the top contender (which is supposed to happen every year). He should be stripped if he won't agree to fight the interim champ soon. Having a belt comes with an obligation to defend it against the top contender regularly. Jon has ONE FIGHT in 3 years as champion, and it wasn't against the #1 contender, it was a gimme fight.
2023 to 2025 is 2 years.

Also by your own logic that a champ is supposed to fight the top contender every year so long as Jon fights Tom, or whoever's #1 contender, in 2025 then he shouldn't be stripped. There's 9 more months of 2025 to do so so why would he be stripped now?

Check mate.

You're arguing with ghosts that don't even exist, How is saying someone who fought 4 months ago shouldn't be stripped "taking Jones side"?

Why Do you view it as Jones side and "the other side" in your head? It's just a question and no one is supporting jones by answering.

If the thread title said "Should someone who defended in november, have their title stripped for not fighting by march?" the poll results would be very very different. Because only to SOME people, does the question have anything to do with jones. I think he should be given 6 months ATLEAST from this point in time. I always say jones is never treated like everyone else and this is exactly why. Belal hasn't fought since july. Strip him too i guess?
too long didnt read

Tom Aspinall NEEDS Jon Jones on his resume. He NEEDS this fight to happen. If he doesn't fight Jon then people will look back on his career and say "Oh, he beat the mediocre Alexander Volkov, and the mediocre Curtis Blaydes, and the mediocre Cyril Gane (pending)."

There's nobody for Tom to fight that's worth a shit or that fans truly want to see. UFC would be dumb to strip Jon and force him into retirement.

There's only one fight to make.

Even posters I like, I'm always going to have a pet peeve for anyone whose entertainment is "I enjoy things that upset other people  because it upsets them," because that's an extremely pathetic mindset, and yet it's a common drive for the Jones fans
Same goes..

My bro, liking my comment when you know damn well what you doin right now
I enjoy MMA in my own way: 1) seeing shitty people get hurt, and 2) things that make posters here upset.

Never, he will be eternal HW champ like a MMA Kim Ill Sung, there after only interim championships will be fought for.

There's a solid basis for not stripping him. It's called Tom has nobody to fight if they do. Who are these top contenders fans are clamoring for Tom to fight? Tom absolutely needs Jon on his resume.

Lol, what's wrong with seeing butthurt children go into a hissy fit?

<thisgonbegood>
There's a difference between having a group of people you precategorize as deserving some comeuppance, vs "Haha, rando person angry lol." The tough part is parsing whether someone belonged to that group beforehand, or if you're doing some retroactive justification to throw them into a category JUST because they're upset.

Schadenfreude is a real thing, but a thing any decent person should be ashamed of publicizing

I'm just talking shit.

Jon having a hate thread here every day with posters continually crying is rather pathetic as well . Would you like to address that?

Jon benefitted with a public perception against Ngannou from beating Gane just by being a common opponent.

Gane just beat streaking Volkov after a POTN on Spivac, and Tom hasn't fought him yet. Tom can fight him just fine and get a similar shine

I'm annoyed at the fact that I check the front page for interesting new threads and usually check on any I've already posted in, and I can't keep my mind affixed to which of the like 7 anti Jones threads I've posted what in. Seriously didn't need to be this many and it's weird they all came up at once.

Anti Jones sentiment is EXTREMELY valid, but the frequency and timing recently has got me scratching my head. Maybe we just merge em into a sticky and do a running count of how long Jones has been against doing any relevant defenses for the belt he wanted to win

Many people think Volkov won that fight and got robbed. Not exactly the best argument for being pro Gane here.

Honestly, in the future when fans look back they'll see what they perceive to be a mediocre list of fighters on Toms resume. He needs Jon.

Seems simple, and obvious to me.

Tell Jones the Undisputed HW Title will be up for grabs at IFW (July sometime usually).

Jones has the option of either taking the fight or he is stripped. Take whatever the highest offer from the UFC is, and fight Aspinall, or vacate.

I have zero problems with Jones ducking Aspinall. He’s a coward, and is proud to be. But he already got his free gimme defence.

There is ZERO justification for Jones keeping the belt, and fighting Alex next.

Vacate and fight whomever the fuck he wants. Idgaf.

But the UFC can’t, and won’t besmirch the HW title more than they have already at this point.

now you're just being dishonest, no one thinks gane won that fight and people discredit him for it as is.

I agree we should call it the "I hate Jon Jones autistic screeching thread" better yet just make it a belt you can put on your account optionally so we can know who is "good company"

Not at all. I don't think Gane should have won it either. I don't see how saying he DID win and that makes him the contender by default is "dishonest." He doesn't deserve to be next, but is, and no one who thinks Volkov won, myself included, is going to use that in the comparison of Jon vs Gane against Tom vs Gane in terms of Tom or Jon's worth from the win. We could argue about Gane's merit as a contender, that's one thing, but that's different than his ability as a fighter, which isn't different

That's not even in the ballpark of a justification.I really don't know why fans are continuing to throw out these stretchy non-arguments. Jon has a title he is obligated to defend.

If Jon is going to fight Tom, then step forward and fight him. If he isn't, he gets stripped; there is no ambiguity here.

Unless Jon can just hold on to the title as long as he wants without defending it, maybe five years from now he fights against some Stipe type of guy? These arguments absolutely go nowhere. They aren't advocating any kind of solution, just basically saying, "Jon should be able to keep the title without fighting for as long as he wants." Like, what? That doesn't even begin to make sense. How hard is the idea to grasp that Jon needs to shit or get off the pot? How many different ways can that be said?
