never. Not saying they should be out there until they die, far from it. Do you think AS or Fedor health were severely damaged caused they fought a few years after their primes? I dont.
I say let them TRT and stay longer.

Fedor would never pull a pussy move like shooting up illegal steroids backstage before a fight, like Anderson routinely did on top of his copious greasing habit (just ask
Natty4eva or GTFO <DisgustingHHH>

Bonnar and Sonnen were from Silva's generation. Weidman was the new generation but I think if Silva was 100% in that fight mentally, he still would have won. He wasn't motivated for that fight and for that reason he should have retired.

Adesanya. As Izzy said on Theo Von's podcast, it felt like a storybook torch passing fight and Silva performed pretty well.

For legacy?
After the shin break

Noway he was retiring with the belt after the Bonnar fight.

But Anderson enjoys fighting... so let him hang it up on his terms.
He's earned it

When he was content to retire he did.
I do not make decisions for other adults. No one should.

i actually like the fighters that keep going no matter what. it's the most primal-est thing and it's natures way. lions don't retire all of a sudden during their prime. they fight until the very fucking end, until nature takes over and ends it suddenly and viciously. is it the healthiest thing? no. but it's real as fuck. i respect that kind of fight and enjoy watching it. to see the flashes of a greater past, to know that we all still got it.

Brunson was an impressive win. Controversial or not.

After beating Stephen Bonnar, 17 fight win streak.

Just curious why many are selecting after the 2nd Weidman fight? What does Silva gain from losing twice to Weidman breaking his leg? Why not retire as a champion and still on top?
Thats why its kind of silly to make a thread asking this question.

Most people are going to say the same thing, but if Anderson abruptly retired after beating Bonnar, people would go crazy and think he should keep going,or he was ducking Weidman.

When he got smoked by Ryo freakin' Chonan with the sickest submission in MMA history.

Was def sick AF.

He became a better fighter by leaving Chute Boxe and working on his jits w the Nog Bros, tho

Isn't that weird to say though? Anderson Silva, legit GOAT candidate, got submitted by Ryo Chonan?

It depends on how much he made his whole career and how much he made in the Paul tight. If that Paul fight was his biggest payday and setup him up for retirement he retired on time

No.

He lost, and made himself a better fighter than he was. You dont have to be perfect to be one of the all time greats.

Yeah, all that time out of his prime,he had alot of fights, and probably made alot of money, and didnt really take that much damage after the Weidman fights.

wut. the dreams

He initially wanted to retire before/after the Bonnar fight. He was 37, halfway to 38.

He had already broke and set all the most prestigious records at that point and was starting to slow a bit.

I know we got the magic of hindsight to guide us.

But I'd say after the second fight with Weidman, where he broke his leg. I think he should have retired after that.

Reason I say that, is because he was going to get an immediate rematch title shot after losing the Weidman the first time.

So it's reasonable to go for that rematch. But after that devastating loss with his leg break, he should have ended it there. He was never the same after.

I believe he was 37 years old if he retired right after the second fight with Weidman. His record would've been 33-6.

None of these. After his last UFC win against Brunson
