What's your recreational activity?

Well they have a jumping front kick in katas. I dont consider that fancy but okey.. They practise the same kicks you mentioned.
Modern Shotokan is sportified. Machida's Shotokan is as true as the original Shotokan.

Used to be basketball and going to the gym. These days it's walking 30-60 minutes daily.

I play poker regularly, it’s a past time and a source of income.

I’ve been working on some wood projects as well, restoring an old bench and preparing a rough cut red cedar mailbox post for long term durability: sanding, filling gaps with latex wood, priming, painting, now on the stage of applying urethane. Ultima gonna polish and wax it.

Hoping to buy more tools in the future to build things as a past time.

Interested in seeing how that turns out.

I've recently bought another book shelf which I thought Walmart had the spray paint in stock whcih they didn't so I've had to order from Amazon. I love upcycling even if it's a $40 bookshelf I want to be another colour.

Here’s the bench before and after sanding and 2-3 coats of paints:

Waiting for complete dryness before urethane.
Gonna install some metal brackets too on the legs and base joints. And some smaller ones on the leg and bench joints.

This is the mailbox post progress so far:

It varies depending on various things

how physically tired am I
how mentally tired am I
weather/time of year/is it light outside
what's going on like is there a sporting event or something

but overall my most relaxing things are watch a classic UK 70s, 80s or 90s TV show
go to the beach if it's hot enough, which most of the time it isn't

I play poker anywhere from 2-10 hours a day.

I got 2nd in a tournament last night, which is fucking awesome and kind of sucks because I had a 3 to 1 chip advantage when down to the final two people. The last two hands I had were good, but my opponents hands were better unfortunately.

How wonderful a job is that?! Gorgeous. You're better than I am, anything wooden I've upcycled I give it a good scrub and then put a primer undercoat on so I don't have to get the sandpaper out. I'm considering getting an electric sander for my next project though.

That's a great job you did seeing the vision. Couple of nice summery cushions and it looks like you bought it from a nice Pottery Barn type shop.
