What's Your Next Purchase? V5

DVOR ended up having a sale on Sons of Liberty Gun Works stuff and I copped their government profile 10.5.

I wanted a pencil profile from like Faxon but at this stage... I just put my email in a "notify when in stock" box on the Faxon site and if they are ever in stock again I will buy it then replace the SOLGW barrel. I just hate how a 10.5 is like 5 ounces heavier than my 14.5 barrel.

My only word of caution on that would be their lead time.

"Expected to ship in 4-6 weeks"

Dvor/optics planet has quite a few things with long wait times atm and those wait times are usually extending further.

Oh I know. I can wait I'm not in a massive rush to finish this project though I want it sooner rather than later obviously. I also have an Aero upper parts kit coming from them right now too.

Got a Geissele Ultra Duty lower kit from Brownells coming as well but that one is 4-6 weeks. oof, 4-6 weeks for lower parts kit... THAT DOESN'T HAVE A TRIGGER.

Parts list for this build is taking shape though:
Aero lower
Just plain upper
Aero upper parts kit
Geissele ultra duty lower parts kit (so it has the Maritime bolt catch). Might throw a BattleArms ambi safety
Geissele G2S trigger (Was going to put this in my AR10 originally but that lower came with a trigger)
BCM gunfighter Mod3 grip
SOLGW 10.5" barrel
Spikes phosphate BCG

I will be PROBABLY grabbing a BCM or Geissele M-LOK handguard and then get a SureFire warcomp. I want a Dead Air flash hider but I can never catch their stuff when it's in stock sadly.

Anyone paying attention to the Rare Breed FRT?
It's a forced reset trigger. It has a very high rate of fire from a semi auto trigger.

The bcg basically forces the trigger to reset to the wall and will break with any added force.

They have a lawyer and a couple retired atf agents saying it's gtg. Not sure if I'm interested but if I was I'd definitely want to buy this with cash in person.

I'd love to try it out but I wouldn't want it in any of my builds cause it just feels like a recipe for an ND if you aren't careful.

I'm pretty sure numerous places have it in stock.

The warcomp is great as long as you aren't using it with a suppressor. Surefires mount leaks badly with the warcomp.

Well, since I know the thread pitch I might try to get the DeadAir hider then.

Whatever muzzle device I want to get one from the same company but a brake for my AR10 in case I ever get a can so I can just get a .30 cal can and just rotate it back and forth so to speak.

That said, I get SureFire creates quality gear but I stumbled on something that bothered me about them. DeadAir if your can gets like burned on (you know the carbon build up gets to the point you can't easily unscrew it) they have a variety of suggestions for how to break that "lock". Surefire? "Undo the clamp then shoot it off"

Yes, let's just keep shooting to get a over $1200 piece of equipment off my gun this sounds like a GREAT idea.

Yup, if it's carbon locked shoot it off lol. No thanks.

The best and quietest suppressors are made by cgs. The Helios qd allows any 1.375x24 mount.

I'm no looking for the quietest thing. I just want something that will bring decibles down so I can feel comfortable shooting indoors even with earpro on (the concussion is what kills indoor ranges for me) and the Sandman allows me to use one Sandman chambered for .30 and I can jsut throw it on my 5.56 and still run it fine there.

MOST companies it feels like you have to get one can for one caliber and that ability to run one can on multiple calibers is what I love about DeadAir. I know it means they probably aren't the quietest things on the market but still.

Would love to try one out. Isn't this essentially gonna feel like massive trigger-slap?

Not sure, I think it's described more as a bump rather than slap but without trying I'm not sure. There are a few videos on yt.

I too would like to try one. It would be nice if these hit local stores so they can be bought with cash.

Right on.

If you came across one and they had two then you should pick up the 2nd one for a buddy who'd pay you back.

So the only guy I can find within 70 miles to do a gun transfer quoted me $100. Says he had to up the price since everyone else stopped doing them and he's inundated. Fuck me.

Should I drive the extra 100 miles round trip for maybe half the price or suck it up? That's probably about $12 in gas and two hours of time. The answer seems obvious, but getting reamed sucks.

Step 1: Pay the man
Step 2: Get your own FFL.
Step 3: Undercut his price
Step 4:

That's tempting. However, if I'm a kitchen table ffl doesn't that mean I invite the man to show up and inspect my property at any time and without notice?

I'm not sure, but that sounds like something that could happen. According to https://www.ffl123.com/obtaining-home-based-ffl/ there are numerous things that you would have to comply with. Whether or not it would be worth the time and effort is up to you. If all you did was transfers at $75 a piece I think you could probably pull down a couple grand a month.

Thanks.

One small detail is that USPS doesn't ship to my home, which I'm sure would need to be the address on the license. Due to living in a rural area of Big Island, Hawaii, shipping via UPS or FEDEX would greatly reduce what I could charge. But if I were able to pick up at the post office then it could make some sense.

Damn, have you tried a few ffl finders to see if there is anything else near by with better pricing?

How much are the shop ffl fees?

Tbh I don't really mind driving, I can find it relaxing. Listen to a couple albums cruising.

Both gunbroker and fflfinder.net. I think I got four "no" and three no replies.

Shop?

Damn.

Gun store ffl fees, do you not live near one or are they not doing transfers. Did I misunderstand your post. Maybe half the price, are you talking the ffl fee, the item you're buying, or?

You could try this one as well

The two stores in the two towns that aren't Hilo are not doing transfers.

If I drive to Hilo (70 miles) then I could get a transfer for closer to $50.
