What's Your Next Purchase? V5

What is your guys solvent of choice for cleaning? My dad has an old old jar of Hoppe's 9 that I've been using but I am curious what everyone else is using.

Not necessarily purchasing but going to ask my LGS about the Weatherby today after work.

Hoppe's stuff.
Thanks.

Also, LGS's distributor only had one Vanguard with Leupold in 30-06 in their stock... so yeah, it's on the way to my shop. Didn't have to pay or fill out the paperwork today though.

WOOT

Ok . . . I'm currently working on building a new workshop in my back yard . . . I'm planning to finally have a reloading space.

Any must haves for storage or work benches that need to consider?

SSSssssoooo.... I hate my friend.

Recently I had a friend from Utah out here for a couple days and we went shooting. He bought like 250 rounds of RSB ammunition to go shooting in 9mm... and had about 150 left before he flew home... said rounds are still in my truck...

NOW I'M LOOKING AT 9mm HANDGUNS! FUCK!

Like ideas for a set up or actual products?

I can try to describe one of the coolest set ups I've seen. He was quite wealthy btw. It was a detach garage that he converted.

So imagine this but extended by three interior cabinets and two large exterior cabinets. It filled his wall basically. He had 5 interior cabinets and all were 4 drawer like the one on the left. The 3 side had a shotgun set up at the end. Each drawer was a different caliber and 2 of the drawers was for dies or other reloading hardware.

He had hanging storage bins sitting in the drawers. Different bullets, primers, brass, etc in different ones separated.

I don't remember the sizes but this is an example of sizes. Large one for brass and smaller for bullets and whatnot. His fit pretty pretty well in the drawers.

The outside large cabinets and over head cabinets had like powders, other supplies and whatnot.

On the opposite side he had a similar set up but with more cabinets vs drawers. That was his general workbench/gun smithing/cleaning workbench set up.

The wall opposite of the garage door had a couple large safes(hidden in cabinets), tool boxes, a fridge, TV, stereo receiver, etc.

His set up was obviously very expensive but I would imagine someone could do something similar/smaller for less.

Striker or hammer?

Striker or hammer?
Not sure, but I want something reasonably common as the 9mm I get I would want to have as the "SHTF" kit pistol in case of me losing a magazine or something.

There's a range here in town where I can check out an XD, M&P, Glock and other guns to take them for a spin... sadly I don't think they have a Sig P226 which is admittedly the gun I am eyeing though I have a friend that has the Legion version of the gun.

Ideas for actual setup. Exactly like what your post mentioned.

I've slowly bought bins and stuff, but now need to come up with a good work area for storing dies, brass, powder, my tumbler, etc.

I'm happy with my Ruger 9E . . . double-stack 19 rd mag . . .

What are you cleaning? For my ARs, AKs, etc., I use non-chlorinated brake cleaner. It's cheap and will eat off any type of oil, grease, etc. Spray it down, run a bore snake through the barrel, lube with Mobil-1.

For my handguns I like the M-Pro 7 products. For my rifles/shotguns that have wood stocks or blued finishes I also use the M-Pro 7 products.

Ar-15, Glock 23, Springer 1911 GI model, Para double stack 1911, two different Winchester Model 70 Alaskas, and soon a synthetic Weatherby vanguard.

The reason I asked is my Glock came with a brush that at least looks like it has some rust on it.

I don't have a Sig handgun. I want one. The options are tremendous. I was thinking P226 in 9mm. Possibly something in .40. Any good advice on which pistols Sig does really well (now that supposedly their manufacturing in the US market isn't as good)?
I've had a P229 40 cal for over 10 years...take it out about 5 times a year, put about 200-300 rounds through it each time...never had a problem, but I've never fallen in love it, or anything.

Glock, or bust, for me!

Glocks and Kimbers, that is!

Ever shot a Kimber 1911 .45?

Kimber 1911s have working firing pins and springs in them? I thought they were all safe queens. :P

Good one!

They are no doubt the Cadillacs of 1911s.

I can't tell you how many people have offered to buy this bad boy off of me...

I'm a 1911 fanboy but the TRP or the Colt USMC M45A1 are the two that have caught my eye right now.

I've been hearing scary stories about newer Kimber 1911s and quality control issues.

"Newer" as in what time frame?

I purchased both my Kimbers in 2008...

That USMC Colt is pretty dope...they seem to retail right around the same price as Kimber.
