What's Your Next Purchase? V5

I will. I'll probably ask the shop to mount and at least boresight my gun as unfortunately I don't have the tools to do something like that

I know I'm cross-posting, but I don't want to pollute the Marlin thread. Too bad you aren't local, I bought a full on Wheeler kit (no laser bore sight though, I borrowed one) and Tipton gun vice for the two rifles I ended up scoping.

If they had a QD option, I'd go with the Burris Signature Zee rings with the little inserts, and skip all the ring lapping bullshit, but I also have irons on my bolt guns, which I use from time-to-time.

Yeah sorry, I totally derailed that 30-30 thread. But the guy seems cool. He didn't cry about it, report me to a moderator and threaten me.....hahah

Ha.

Don't worry. I'm a gun noob and you (as well as others) have been pretty helpful so I am in no position to bitch about anything :-)

Well I always happy to pitch in my 2 cents where I can. In just a hunter though, so I like coming here to see what law enforcement people and people that are into different aspects of shooting have to say.

In general, in my experience, I find "gun people" to be some of the more level head, worth talking to people around. That's why I was sort of shocked when I got reported and threatened by the one guy lol, gun people don't go around starting trouble generally speaking.

I don't think the Vanguard has iron's on them.

You have an iron sighted pre64 Alaskan in 243????

Damn, and that's siiiick!!!

The .300 WinMag is a pre64 with irons and the .243 is a post64 with irons.

Badass. I'm honking about the precision matched rings. Maybe a seekins or badger base. Basically a precision set up hunting rifle.
Lol, I just want to take out as much of the "is it my equipment" headscratching as possible.

Going to try hand loading with my dad tomorrow

Ruger has a few cool new guns out. A new version of the Hawkeye hunting rifles and a 10/22 lite takedown.

I'm looking forward to reading reviews of the new Hawkeye.

They need to make that 10/22 TD stock available for aftermarket as well. My Ruger American Rimfire has that stock; LoP and comb height can be swapped out, though the barrel channel has been cut for bull barrels.

Fucking Ruger, always making me think, "Shit, I should have waited."

Yeah for sure. I wanted a 4.2" RedHawk 44 mag for like 3+ years and there were none to be had...none. So I ended up buying the kodiak backpacker 44mag when it came out and all of the sudden there were 4.2" RedHawks all over the place. It's too expensive of a purchase to "just buy both" so now I can either sell the kodiak at a loss or just deal with it.

The kodiak is badass but I wanted something a bit longer so I could shoot the real hot ammo through it, like the stuff from Garrett cartridge.

I have to say, I think Rugers marketing is a bit lame....the "Alaskan", the "kodiak backpacker" these big bore snubbies....up in ak, you mostly see revolvers with like 6-8" barrels, not short snubbies.

I'd like to get one of the ruger rim fires with that removable piece on the stock and make a thing to hold a simple fishing kit, firesteel and maybe like 20-30 rounds of 22lr.

I know I've mentioned it before but could that be done??? I've never held one of these guns so I was thinking of getting a RAR at some point.

Yeah dude, pretty sure we discussed this once before. When you remove the sling swivel stud and take off the top, the inside of the stock is hollow. I'd probably wrap all that shit in some kind of cloth because it will rattle around, but I think it's very doable. If I saw this message earlier, I would take a picture. I may do just that, tomorrow, after work.

Did some reloading tonight. Brand new brass (we fucked up and a portion of the die set to neck the brass fell into the casing because this was the first time I've done reloading and first time for my dad in almost 30 years) so we had to cut apart one piece of brass. So, 49 rounds, .300WinMag, 150grain, ~70grain of IMR 4350 powder:

Yes it's possible, I own a Ruger American Bolt Rimfire

It would be cool to make a thing that just slid in perfectly. Otherwise a cloth or something would be fine. Seems likenit would've awesome.

I need to go and get a mini vault or something similar to put my off duty gun in when I get home since the kiddo will be crawling in a few weeks.

Probably gonna stock up on some 20rd M1A mags and AK mags before the CA legislation makes getting them really difficult.

Also still looking at a replacement optic for my AR since I got my EOTECH refund. So many choices...

I think the SPARC II comes with a magnifier that you screw into the back

I've been happy with the Aimpoint pro. But I'm not really an AR guy.
