What's Your Next Purchase? V5

I've always wanted a bolt gun with this sort of stock:
https://www.bellandcarlson.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=category.display&category_ID=1069

Because I do enough bench shooting it'd be worth it but I'd feel ridiculous hunting with it.

My friend has that stock, he put a Remington 700 5r into it and gave me the hs precision stock he originally had for a build i did.

Bell and Carlson stuff is ok, huge upgrade from the factory standard stuff but not as good as McMillan.

If I was putting a stock on a Remington 700, I'd check out grayboe stocks.

I know Boyd makes stocks too.

I've never tried a Boyd, honestly I got a McMillan a few years back and put it on a Remington hunting rifle, it saved some weight but for hunting performance I couldn't tell any difference so the weight was the only thing, so in the future for hunting guns, I'll just get b&c stocks because they save some weight and cost like 1/3 of a Macmillan.

I had a b&c m40 stock I put on a Remington 700 sps tactical and that actually turned out to be a damn good budget tactical build. The hs precision I have on another Remington is pretty nice too but more of an m24 style. Both are good.

Apparently the grayboe stocks are made by a guy who used to work for McMillan but they cost about 300 dollars compared to the 600 dollar mccmilans.

To be honest, this kimber Montana I recently got has a stock on it that imo is easily as nice as a mccmilan. The trigger too is as good as any timney I've ever used.

We made some quick fixes on the Montana, filed down the magazine a bit to keep it from
Binding and bedded the stock. Thing shoots around .75 inch groups with simple factory 30-06 ammo. Pretty badass, can't wait to get the Swarovski on it.

I always Have to remind myself though that I can spend thousands of dollars to shave off a pound or 2 from my gear but at the same time I could swing the kettlebell more and drink less beer and drop 5-7 lbs off my midsection in just a few weeks, not only does it not cost me $$$ it actually saves $$$.

Previous tractor was going to the dogs, and I needed something to keep my shooting range looking spiffy, and all my critters happy:

Really taking a hard look at a higher end 375hh, I've completely fallen for this cartridge and while the weatherby is awesome, I'm really thinking of stepping it up.

The kimber talkeetna looks like the best bet, there's also the Sako kodiak. Price is more or less a wash. I like the stock on the kimber, I dislike the removable mag on the Sako, both are stainless which is nice.

I'm also looking into something chambered in 35 Whelen, Montana rifle company makes a nice one based off of the Winchester model 70, Remington makes the 700cdl in that caliber but after destroying a Remington from normal heavy use, I'm not sure that's the route I want to go. I'm actually thinking of buying the fun I really want and then getting it re chambered/rebored for something in the 35 caliber range.

Still trying to find s good price for a scar 17. Shits crazy buddy picked his up for 2500 a few yours ago in Cali. Now I can't find prices sub 4.5

Debating if I am paying 4.5 for a 308 should it be a scar or a nemoi

Oh and @Gregolian if you haven't used the $125 credit you got yet you are basically getting that $600 set up for $344.
I used the DVOR bucks I think on my Elzetta 900 lumen weapon light for my current AR build but thanks.

My bday is coming up though... if only I had a gf or wife to help with this stuff

Those are awesome packs, I've never used one because they usually sell for like 900 dollars. At that price I'm tempted to get it and really put it to the test against my kifaru and mystery ranch packs.

I think I read somewhere that this pack could hold 800lbs or so wing crazy, not that the person wearing it could but the pack has the ability to do so.

Also, Cameron Haynes gives this pack high reviews, he's actually the guy with th elk rack in that picture. I know he's sponsored by them but he seems like a zero bullshit sort of guy who actually hunts constantly, I can't imagine he'd use it if it sucked.

I don't know much about packs but just upon looking at it, it looks extremely comfortable and designed in a way to really evenly disperse and wear weight well. Also a very attractive(imo) design, immediately I was thinking damn that's a nice looking pack.

Yeah it does look awesome, I'll try to read some reviews of it this afternoon, I'd be curious to see what people who have used it think, I'm really considering buying one even though it's literally the last piece of gear I need as I just spent like 800 dollars on a kifaru and 600 bucks on a mystery ranch pack.

At first when I was looking for big packs to replace my osprey and take to Alaska I got a mystery ranch marahall which is their top of the line hunting pack and it's awesome but then I was a dumbass and started reading more about packs, from kifaru, I got the hunting frame and a mountain warrior bag as well as an assortment of pockets and extras.

I took both to Alaska and was glad I did because I spent like 4 days just hauling shit from the bank where the planes landed to my campsite.

Both packs are awesome really.

If it makes traversing and packing out much better/easier/more comfortable it would probably be worth it.

I did quick reading online on it and the reviews I saw seemed to love it.

Disperses weight very well and holds it very close to you in all positions, extremely modular and very easy to put together/take down, very comfortable, light weight, etc.

On top of the comfort one thing that people seemed to like a lot is the great dual purpose ability. It can carry a lot of weight(one guy tested 400lbs) pretty comfortably/easily(depending on weight, I'm sure that 400 wasn't "easy" lol). It can carry a 7-10 day supply base camp set up and takes down very quickly into a great lightweight day pack.

Biggest complaint was cost but people do the same for like all higher end products. Like some people say why get a mark V when you can get 2-4 vanguards...

I'm so tempted to get it, the price isn't that much higher than a kifaru set up so its not really that bad at all, plus good packs usually last pretty much forever. I might sell some of my older packs and check out the tenzing for that price.
