What's Your Next Purchase? V5

Sort of considering dumping my ar15s. The basically never get used and are starting to feel like money pits to me...triggers, sights, swapping stocks and grips around until I find which ones i like.

They are cool, just too many other projects to work on and I could use the cash towards other projects.

November through January might be peak selling.

Yeah I sort of have mixed feelings on that though. Last time through, I got offered 2800 bucks for my Daniel defense m4v3 which was a bit over 2x what I paid for it (1150 in 2010), I didn't sell it.

On one hand it would be cool to grab that quick cash and use it to put together something I wouldn't normally do, like a Jim er Montana and have it reviews to 338-06 or 35 Whelen then get all the reloading supplies and have a sweet set up to play with.

On the other hand though, gouging people sort of feels wrong.

Like I said though, I basically never shoot the things and non of them are really set up yet and it would be nice to have some throw away cash for another project.

Another gun if like to build is a tikka t3 lite in 338wm and replace the bolt shroud with a titanium one and the bolt handle with a ti/carbon one, put the titanium bedding kit/bedding block in it and have a cool big game rifle to mess around with.

Fuck that. Sell when the selling is good. If you sold it cheap and they got outlawed would you be expecting a kicker on the increased value? Of course not. It goes both ways.

Good point. What do you think is the best way to get top dollar? Most of the firearms forums in a regular on have rules against panic gouging people and sort of which hunt and ban people for it.

I can't imagine a local shop offering an awesome price.

Gunbroker. Getting what people will pay is the point of an auction.

I guess you just put a minimum in it and it sells or dosent.

I've bought several guns from gun broker, never bid on one though, just gone with the buy it now thing. My good buddy is an ffl so that makes it much easier.

Yeah, you can put a minimum. Selling into a panic you probably wouldn't even need to do that to get your money back. Bidding on GB is no different than Ebay.

Knowing an ffl is a plus.

Yeah knowing an ffl is awesome, I can get things transferred either way for the price of a 6 pack of beer (and shipping obviously if he sends it for me).

Not only that, he's a dealer so whenever I want things I just ask him and he calls around to basically get dealer pricing/ wholesale....which surprisingly isn't all that much with firearms. Occasionally he scores something awesome.

When I got my super Blackhawk bisley 454, they were going for 775 on gunbroker, I got mine delivered and took it home for 635.

Can you guys upgrade to the pro series?
I wish we could. But we are stuck with the line model. A lot of the guys on the handgun test group bought the Pro series for fun off duty using the S&W discount for armorer's.

It is amazing how light the 9mm is on the belt compared to the previous SIG P220.

Nice that i now carry two spare mags instead of 4 with the SIG and I have 52 rounds of 9mm vs 43 of 45ACP with what feels like a lot less weight.

M&p is my least favorite handgun by a mile. That trigger....I've seen some decent accuracy out of the 45 model but the 9mm ones...oh man. I'll take s flock and call it a day.

Have you felt through pro series? Massive improvement imo.

No man, just the stock ones and for full disclosure, lots of what I shot were police trade ins that were traded in because they sucked. There was a Point where the basic 9mms had accuracy problems and that's all I really shot.

I bet the pros or ones with Apex parts are sweet.

I like it. I'll have to spend a bit more time with it but so far I like the way it looks in person much more and it's comfortable.
I got the STR for my current project as I like the ACS I have on my current gun but I don't need the flip open storage that makes it a little, longer looking.

My Elzetta weapon light got here today. Down to the:
- Pistol grip
- Gas block
- Hand guard
- Iron sights

And minor components like gas tubes and shit.

Ordered a kifaru pack and a new pair of sportiva Nepal boots.

Those kifaru packs are confusing, dediding what you want with all the options is tough.
