What's Your Next Purchase? V5

I take back what I said about Hogue. I just hate all the goofy color schemes

I bought that kimber ascent so I could hunt with my dad. He's going hunting with my step brother, I really don't understand why he dosent give a shit nowadays. I really don't get it.

I shouldn't post this shitbird, sorry.

Sucks man. Took your rifle and doesn't even take you hunting.

Are you getting another Kimber Ascent. It seems to be much lighter than the competition. Nearly a lb lighter than the Sako.

Ruger makes a 6lb rifle. Forgot what it is called.

Those ruger Hawkeye compacts are fairly cool guns yeah. I'm torn between another kimber ascent and a Sako. He's paying me for the gun so no big deal.

The kimber ascents are awesome, I'll probably get it in 7mm-08, 308 or 270wsm.

The overmold stocks are cool but they collect lots of dirt and dust.

They are nice and quiet when you hit them on trees while stalking in thick woods though.

I also like lots of their pistol grips, I have some finger groove hogue grips on my sig sauer 229, gp100, RedHawk and on a super Blackhawk.

Yeah that Kimber does seem awesome. Basically 1lb lighter than the Sako. I'd probably go with that.

I'm shocked more people don't compete in the <6# rifle category. 16.5" barrel, light stock, etc would be perfect for <400m.

I am debating the Mission First Tactical Minimalist stock, Magpul CTR, or the Hogue Overmold for my AR-10 and next AR-15. Then I saw the weight on the Hogue and I was like "fffffuuuuu"

Most of the hunting I do, I'd say ~ 90% is back pack hunting, tons of hiking, scrambling, packing and carrying a heavy-ish pack that is hopefully going to come back heavier so I'm all about lightweight rifles.

Is like to get a Christensen or a double broom
But I just can't justify the price when you can get near custom for under 2k.

The Sako has a strong following among mountain hunters and the kimbers are sort of the Grail of factory rifles in the mountain hunting scene.

One throne thing that really sucks about rifles like these is that they are a bitch to sight in if you are using a caliber bat us any real kick to it, they can also be a bit difficult to master because of the recoil, and you need to shoot a lot before you go shooting animals in areas where you absolutely need to anchor them or lose them forever.

Another thing is that as soon as you move away from short action calibers you add weight to the gun which isn't terrible but it's nice to get the advertised weight.

I'm still on the fence with this one, on one hand 308 is good for most game, but a 270wsm would be cool too. I'm always a bit nervous about getting new "strange" calibers though.

those ruger compacts are really sweet rifles, one in 7-08 would be awesome, they Ed to make more stainless all weather models but not anymore, Winchester 70 featherweight a are also classics and the Remington 700 mountain lss are all rifles that are awesome for the mountains that are a bit cheaper. ~ 800 bucks compared to the ~ 1500+ kimbers and Sako rifles. A tikka t3 lite stainless would also do the job well for ~ 700 bucks.

I guess I should clarify a bit, the hogue overmold are better than most fsctory plastic stocks but it sort of ends there, I'd never spend $$$ on one. I have one that I took off a Remington 700 sps tactical sitting around my garage back home.

I just typed all that and didn't even mention the weatherby mkv ultra light weight.....those are sweeeeeet, even more so with the 2016 improvements. That would be a hell of a rifle.

Mark V ultralight in 257 weatherby would be interesting.

BRB, selling a kidney so I can afford it.

Dude - how the hell did you pull dubs?

Seriously, 2000 dollars for the gun then you need an appropriate scope....would be amazing though. They did make the vanguard back country which looks awesome, carbon stock, fluted barrel, cera coated...about 1k for that gun with a sub moa guarantee.

That would be sweet, I have a vanguard in 257wby that I've shot a few antelope with, pretty cool cartridge.

Called some liberal dude who was being stupid in the war room a ":eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:"....aparently you can't do that. It's not dubs though, it's just a single yellow card so I can still edit posts and like things, basically nothing changes. With the double yellow you can't like or edit.

It's crazy. I think if they are bumping up the price to 1K from what is a $700 ish gun is ridiculous if it's because of the cerakote. CERAKOTE AIN'T THAT EXPENSIVE!

I'm not feeling that....there are a lot of others I'd pick before going with that....
For sure. CTR or the Minimalist for me personally.

ridiculous. Madmick hates me and gave me dubs for posting "fuck you" to some piece of shit Christian who was talking turn to Jesus threat bullshit in the first few posts of the RIP Ali thread. He's too sensitive to mod, especially the War Room, imo.

I may be buying way less shit related to this thread over the next year or two.... Thinking about building a 1970 Chevelle SS.
