What's Your Next Purchase? V5

I was in a car crash myself back in January. Completely totaled our tdi when a driver smashed into us going 40-50mph.

The odds of something like that would seem quite high with you being surrounded by mostly Asian drivers.:D

Fuck. I want every Glock in 9mm in Gen 3 and 4. Still want that Mod2, too. Anyone have one? Share your experience with it?

Yeah honestly I'm surprised it took me 5 years. People really can't drive here. I
Remember getting a learners permit when I was like 15 and practicing with my dad for a few years until I got a license, even then o wasn't given free use of a car until later.

Here, people usually don't even take the driving classes until they are in college or later. And it's 4 tests and you get the license. So people have basically driven for like 3 hours, they get their card and go buy a car...

Then take into account that there's like 10 million people doing this and the average Chinese person is completely oblivious to what's going on around them and it all adds up to disaster.

I have multiples of all the gen3 9mms.

I don't have any gen4 glocks though.
Sorry, I meant does anyone have any experience with the Springfield Mod2:

Yeah my buddy has one and I ran a good 100 rounds thru it on steel plates.

Feels like what you'd expect. It feels like an XD thru in thru, just more refined. Definitely a bigger jump than in any of the Glock gen model changes. Much better ergos, trigger seems better, but YMMV.

I liked it all in all. I'll say I wasn't impressed with the looks when I first saw the photos( I'm primarily a Glock guy), but it actually is much better looking in real life. The grip zone crap on the grip seemed less detracting to an otherwise attractor pistol. The capacity is fantastic. Don't think you could go wrong with buying one if its something your considering.

Thanks. I'm all about the double stacks with small grips. I love Glocks too... after I do a grip reduction on them.

I was interested in one for awhile but between the glocks and a few sigs I have, I just can't justify purchasing another semi auto pistol right now.

Especially with my recent obsession with bite bore magnum revolvers and this wild hair up my ass about starting to hunt with a handgun.

I often get interested in new handguns, but I'm not interested in accumulating a ton of firearms I have no use for. I've kept it to 4 handguns for the past few years, and have justified it as I need 1 for home defense, one for summer carry, a larger carry gun for winter carry, and a full size gun for competition. Anytime I want a new gun, I force myself to sell or trade whatever gun that is being replaced in my pseudo category I've created. I typically look for slightly used but like new guns via armslist, and have managed the past few years to obtain new guns without spending additional money. For example, last year I traded a Ruger SP101 for a Glock 27. I bought a CZ SP01 for $625 new, then sold it at the end of the year for $600 (basically rented it for a year for $25 after running it the whole summer thru steel challenge and IDPA). Good way to test drive a lot of new guns on a limited budget.

Yeah I was sort of a 2 is 1 type for awhile so I got a bunch of glocks (~ 8). The only other auto I have right now is a sig 229. I got rid of all my s&w revolvers and now in the revolver department I just have a bunch of Rugers (sp101, gp100, RedHawk kodiak, super black hawk, security six).

I could thin it out a bit but I always justify the need for everything. EDC is g26/19 so I may as well have a backup, whenever I went to the range or did steel shooting, I liked the g17 so I have a pair of rtf2s. The other glocks are a 20/29 combo that I koen for woods carry and backpacking.

For revolvers, pretty much all of them are backups while hunting or fly fishing or just generally hiking around. The security 6 has meaning to me so I keep it.

I'm considering trading my Glock 27 Gen 4 for a XDM 45 Compact or a XD Mod 2 in 45.

My main apprehension on the Mod 2 is that Springfield will come out with a revised version of the Mod 2 soon that doesn't have the stupid grip zone copy. Which would crush the resale value of a version that has the grip zone copy, since no one will want it.

You going to get storage pods for it if it is a bug out bike?

I really want to get a hunting pack for next season, looking at the Tenzing brand because of my price range. Still not entirely sure what I want out of a pack, right now, at my skill level and because Saskatchewan is all private land, I don't hunt more than a few kilometres from my truck and I won't be packing out quarters over harsh terrain.

I'm gravitating towards something like this, so I can keep the weight down, yet have the essentials on my person:

But I'm also kind of attracted to something like this:

Which seems like it would be handy come rifle season.

I have a Sitka flash 32 pack I've used for bighorns in Canada and Alaska. I also like eberlstock packs too for serious hunting.

Honestly if I was only going a few kilometers from the car, I'd just wear a camel back.
