Why go heavy on the 9 but light on the 40 and 45?

Oh c'mon!!! 124 isn't heavy on the 9, I actually think it's much better than 115g. Shoot steel targets and you'll see how fast the 115 slows down. Sure 165 is the low end weight for 40 but I've had lots of 40s that shot 165 better than 180. As for the 45???? Shit, 185 is light and you don't see much available between 200 230g so 200 is mid range, Imo, 200 is sorts the sweet spot for 1911s.

I didn't even realize they made those in 300em, I only ever saw them in 375hh. Sweet guns!!!

My shoulder is still feeling it.

Was fun shooting that thing though, pretty sure I caused the two "tacticool bros" next to me to shit their pants the first time I let one loose. Loudest gun at the range that day for sure.

9mm goes down to 85 for Frangible. I've only ever seen Frangible ammo for .45 at 185.

For .45 230 is the most common for cheap fmj by far.

I see 115 and 124 9mm both as very commonly available. I prefer 124.

All the 40 I've ever bought was 165gr. 1k WWB and 1k federal american eagle. Both were $220 per 1k. However I see 180 commonly as well.

185gr is very common for hollow point. Hornady, Nosler, Corbon, Remington, winchester, federal, pmc, Speer, etc all make 185 gr +p jhp. Glaser makes a 165gr +p.

Well, through a small stroke of either luck or pure fucking bumbling-ness I just realized in 6 months (essentially come hunting season)... I'll have 6 calibers to choose from for hunting.

The 30-30 and Savage are both antiques though. 30-30 I looked up the serial number and I think was built in 1906 or some such craziness and the Savage was built in like 1914

300 win mag, 30-06 and 270 are my favorite hunting cartridges. I like 30-06 as an all around cartridge, 300wm is great when I'm going after bigger stuff (elk) in the mountains and 270 is also great all a round but I love how flat it shoots.

I used to collect so much ammo it was awesome. I'd just buy boxes of whatever hollow points interested me. I usually go for Speer gold dot 124 +p for carry and the Winchester nato or blazer aluminum 124 for just shooting but I used to a stockpile the hell out of ammo, it was an addiction. I was constantly placing orders and maki g trips to sportsmans warehouse. I still have most of it and even though in overseas, I'm always ord ring boxes to be sent to my dads house.

Yeah I always kept a minimum around for every caliber. I got to the point though where if I wa storing to shoot, I'd go out and buy ammo to shoot so I wouldn't dig into the supply.

I'd most likely be hunting Mulies. All the 30 cal's minus the 30-06 and .308 are my dad's (the .243 is his too). He got the .300 WinMag for hunting in Montana and the .300 Savage was his dad's deer rifle of choice.

White tail is east of the Cascades and there is Elk in the mountains but I am not 100% what portions of the mountains I could legally hunt on

I'd rock the 30-06. 165 or 180 grain core lokt (sp?) are your friend.

People say 30-06 is excessive for deer, but I'd rather have too much gun rather than too little, catch my drift? Those 180s will almost guarantee a one hitter quitter on a deer.

Spent last weekend shooting in Carson City, has anyone experienced shooting in the public shooting range by the Carson River? Broke in the CZ-sp01, damn good gun, ate up all the Tula ammo i could feed it.
