What's Your Next Purchase? V5

Sorry about your dad.

You should be careful with that Spanish one until you know more about it. My friend has a Spanish double barrel and apparently the barrel is made of Damascus steel and they are famous for blowing up lol. I'd get on a forum or something and post up the pics I bet somebody somewhere knows a lot about that gun.

@jlagman, I'd definitely make an issue over the sight. That's what warranties are for.
Warranties in Canada are a different matter, though. Nothing is really made here; Para Ordnance used to be made here, Savage rimfires are mostly made here but finished off in the US, I believe, but yeah, you know what I mean.

The dealer forwarded my concerns to the importer. I think in most cases, warranties usually involve cross country shipping of the entire firearm, back to the importer, so they can deal with it as necessary. I think Tavors on the Canadian market actually come from Israel, as we've had access to them a few years before you guys.

What I'm hoping is that they can just mail me a front sight and I'll install it myself. Anything more complicated than that, fuck it, I'll just live with it.

Got my CHL recently and as a result ended up doing some heat-gunning, dremeling, and stippling to my Glock 27 that was always too big for my hand. It turned out perfect and now I want to buy another Glock just to mod it. Thinking maybe a FDE gen 3 model 19.

The Sako is very bad ass. I love the blonde wood. It was my dad's hunting rifle. He recently passed away and I've inherited these. I'd like to know more about the 10 gauge but there isn't much for info on it. Supposedly that old model 12 might have some value. I need to look into it. I'm kinda jazzed on the Browning since I don't have any Belgian made.

Sorry to hear about your dad passing. But awesome that he left those to you. Guns are really something that can be passed from generation to generation.

Thank you.

I've got no kids and one nephew (a 3rd-grader). I guess he'll get mine when I go. There will be so many that receiving them will be just as much of a burden as a gift.:cool:

Home done paint jobs on bolt guns... opinions?

Kryloning a scope as well, opinions are requested.

I start with tan and then add green and brown. Just grab some johnson grass or something similar and hold it against the gun as you spray. I've done a few this way and they look great. I'll post a pic later when I get to a computer.

I'm just curious more so what portions of the gun I should tape off. On the scope I know the lenses (duh), and probably the portions of the turrets that have any of the measurements on them. I've Krylon'd paintball guns, friend's ARs, and other such things so I know kinda of "how".... I'm just stuck on the "what portions do I tape off"

I used pine boughs, alder leaves, and sticks to break it up as well as burlap.

I just take the bolt out and remove the butt pad. Blue painters tape for the turrets and the trigger.

Any paint that gets in there will be burned out within a few shots probably. I wouldn't worry about it.

I only ask because all the vids I have seen of it people tape up that stuff

I did one and I used foam ear plugs in the barrel and chamber. Masking tape on the scope etc.

Cool, sounds like what I've seen on YouTube palling around

Was hitting 1-2 inch groups today at 50 and 100 yards with my dad's .300 WinMag Winchester Model 70 Alaska with a 3-9 scope.
