seems strange to squat with

Some guys have shoulder flexibility issues and can't/find it uncomfortable to hold onto a normal bar. Also good for zercher stuff.

Now why did those American sounding guys have a big Israeli flag behind their rack is the real question.

Just look at the flag man, it's obviously a Kosher bar.

(not the same guy) but i didn't know green plates could be so small

That design prevents the bar from rolling down your back, so you don't have to hold onto it up high and strain inflexible shoulders.

when he went down, his knees where out, when he came up they came close together, i sometimes see the olympic lifter do this, why is that?

Its a common form flaw. Ripp says its from weak adductors. They let the knees come in so the adductors don't have to do much.

His knees did seem to buckle a bit. Its something my training partner is strugling with. Anyone have any suggestions on how to solve this?

Wide stance 3s pause squatting and pulling sumo every once in a while seemed to bring u my adductor strength enough to solve this for me.

that bar is awsome.more practical then a strait bar,do you think some one gave it to him for christmas. jk!

Wasn't his descend a bit quick and uncontrolled? If he lets the thigh and calf contact be the primary breaking power that stops his descend he is doing baaad things to his knees...

My gym (the one I used to work at) has one of those. Former club manager is a PL, he ordered it because he was trying to market the place to his crowd. The guy was great, he also pitched installing a sandpit and a tractor tire.

The bar has a yoke-like thing for the neck. It's a three-sided square, you hang on to the ends of the bars perpendicular to the bar across your shoulders.

I tried it for a bit, but my shoulder flexibility improved vastly after squatting more regularly and I just went with the normal bar. It's cumbersome and should be used only if you have trouble with a regular bar. It also sways like a pendulum if you go deep, and messes with your balance if you're not careful.

It's called a cambered squat bar.

Try X-band walks, they work.

Hold onto an exercise band and lay the bottom of the loop on the ground. Step onto the band with both feet in the athletic position while still holding the top end of the band in front of you with both hands. Posture up and grab either side of the band with the contra-lateral hand. This creates and 'X'. Keep the tension of the band high but holding it up slightly with the arms. Walk laterally back and forth keeping the tension high. You will be feeling this laterally on the hips.

This is a tried and true method for casual lifters and experienced power lifters.

i like the bar
