you have no reason to lie about it at all, which really makes me wonder why you are lying. there is a chance you aren't lying, and genuinely believe thats what you saw, in which case you are simply incorrect.

theres also the possibility that he isnt lying. why does it matter what linemen do? you know they have a lot more to focus on than just bench right?

fuck, i saw some fat gym rat bust out 15 reps with 315.

Who does 32-rep sets, though, Remy?

And who doing that high reps would ever develop a max strength for that potential?

I won't make accusations without proof, but I'm in serious doubt, here.

i know guys who will test max reps at various weights.

besides ive known plenty of big benchers. why? because thats all they do.

i think remy hit the nail on the head. the kid is a big bencher and not much more. maybe his other lifts never failed to grab my attention and i just haven't noticed, but the only times i do see him lift is when he benches.

as for "who does 32 rep sets"? i've only ever seen him perform this on ONE occasion, and i believe his exact words after completing his set was "damn..shoulda gone for 33". :(

I hope I don't offend anyone in here by saying I hate those people.

Hey to each their own. However, I tend to find it a bit ridiculous too. Especially when thats all they talk about, "how much do you bench". We will have to have those people meet with the Plifters from Finland who said, and I quote "benching is for girls".

My PL coach claims she saw Tom Skiver (one of the best raw benchers on the planet IMO) do 405X2

Even AFTER doing 405X3, 445X1, I managed 315X12.

My point is that's it's not impossible, especially since the guy obviously doesn't know what a spotter is for. "His spotter was giving him a lot of help". THen it's not a spotter, it's a lift assistant.

anyway, i was actually even more impressed when i saw this dude around my age (21) benching 315 for 32 reps, for 2 sets.

Why in the hell would you even do 32 reps, especially if you could do it with 315?? But anyway, the best bench I think that I have seen in person was 405X3. That was pretty impressive given the guy's size.

I used to see Don Reinhout (sp) lift at Lifestyles in Fredonia, NY. I don't think the gym's there anymore, this was in the early 90's. Not sure exactly how much he was lifting, but it was impressive. In case you're not familiar, Don used to be in those early world's strongest man competitions...back when Lou Farrigno was doing it (mid-70's/early 80's). I never saw Don max out, and he was retired. I wish I could have seen him lift in his prime.
