Movies What's the best movie the year you were born?

You know a bunch of these are 1993, right???

Tombstone
Jurassic Park
Schindler's List
Philadelphia
Mrs Doubtfire
The Fugitive

Gtfo here with this fake list. You might have seen these films in '94, but that doesn't mean they were released in '94.

I legit just did a google search of movies from 1994 and then posted based of the list that popped up. I guess don’t always believe the internet is the lesson 🤷‍♂️

I missed a glaring one from '83 we had on vhs, and that would be war games -- but again, a lot of these were my pops collection i just dipped into. The first official vhs i think I ever got as a kid was spaceballs in like '88 or something that I can remember, but he had copied tapes and recording of circus and hollywood bowl -- like the precursor to STILL watching the shit in youtube like 40 years later.

Kind of a shitty year though
1983?

Videodrome
The Dead Zone (1983 needed two Cronenberg movies)
Return of the Jedi
The Big Chill
A Christmas Story
Scarface
Lone Wolf McQuade (don't you dare besmirch this masterpiece)
Thriller (the 14 minute music video)
Terms of Endearment
The Hunger (sorta shitty and amazing also)

I'd say Videodrome

Thanks for participating guys. Very interesting choices.

Dead Zone is my favourite King book. Casting Walken was a disaster however. Still a good movie but if you read the book you'd understand how terrible it was. And I really like Walken.

Lots to choose from in 1988.

Bloodsport, Die Hard, Who Framed Rogger Rabit, Beetlejuice, Stand By Me, A Fish Called Wanda, Rain Man, Big.

I'm going to say Stand by Me because of the amount of times I watched that movie growing up.

Edit: I just checked to see if I was correct with the year they came out, considering I wrote them off the top of my head, but Stand by Me was 1986. I thought for sure it was 88.

In that case, I'm going say WFRR, followed by Beetlejuice.

I don't disagree, though IT is my favorite King book. I do have a fondness for the Skeleton Crew collection too, the first King book I read.

Another weird 1983 fact, not only did Cronenberg have two movies come out, so did Coppola.

The Outsiders and Rumble Fish

Can we be besties? As a kid The Outsiders was my favourite book. Gosh knows how I came across it in the library but I read it twice I loved it so much. Both movies I felt did the books justice which very few do.

I actually first read The Outsiders in school. Watched the movie for the first time in class too.

I just recently made my wife watch it on our tour of movies she missed by virtue of being 31 and not born in America. She loved it too.

I'm just glad I'm not the oldest person here.

Beneath the Planet of the Apes or Deep Inside Mrs Jones.
