What's more boring?

Nothing worse than a staring contest.

Atleast with lay and pray some type of action happened so the fight ended up on the ground.
this exactly.

"the big men continue their stroll around the cage until the end of the round"

"another 60 seconds of inactivity "

"With 1:10 on the clock, referee Herb Dean finally intervenes, cautioning the fighters to engage or risk a point deduction"

"another minute of nothing between the big men"

"Ngannou lands a cheap shot after the horn, a fittingly ugly end to one of the worst fights you'll see "

Wall & Stall / Lay & Pray by a mile.

A guy that dances around his opponents while winning fights might not be the most entertaining but he is still trying.

They are both terrible, but probably lay'n'pray is worse.

At least in a boring standup fight, there is some chance that one fighter will catch the other with something and move the fight forward. If a good wrestler is laying on someone who can't get up, while also presenting no sub threat, then nothing is likely to change.

To be honest, lately if I'm catching up on a fight card and it's not a match I really care for I've been skipping ahead through the grappling unless the guy is a real threat. If I sense no danger from a fight sometimes I'll even skip forward the standup as well. At least with striking there's a small chance it can change in a flash. With grappling though you kinda get the idea of how it's going to go within the first couple minutes. There's not enough aggression on the ground. I like watching submission specialists or fighters who really look to put power into their ground strikes but I get annoyed with the "mix your game up, go for a takedown" type of strategy.

That sounds like me. 😂

fighters that don't fight or have a fight lined up are the most boring to me.

A wrestler than can take down but then has no idea how to proceed from there, might as well be cut from UFC. No one wants to see that shit.
Yeah, a Real Warrior would Never need a judge in the fight. Getting taken down would be dealt with, savagely, as soon as the wrestler was overcome and pounded into unconsciousness.

Should they cut stand up fighters who spar to decisions always as well? No one wants to see that either.

There's little to no chance that fighters who engage in stand up sparring sessions will land anything that will move a fight forward as they're just looking to cruise to a decision and not really get a stoppage.

A point fighter that runs a lot with no power, or a wrestler with no sub game or no real gnp?
You know what's rougher to watch than either of those? Fighters who clinch their opponents against the cage to a decision.

I would rather see a guy wrestle and get takedown than 2 guys sparring to a decision. Neither one is really fan friendly per se, however.
I lose interest if it's a wrestler on the ground with no sub threat. But the worst is in Bantamweight, because some of the taller guys really have zero strength. Like Sean O Malley. When Merab was taking him down, it just looked like streetbeefs. Like damn, even I could do that to a skinny guy..

A strong BJJ game with no takedown skills and reluctance to strike beats all those.

Yeah, those are rough as well, specially when they gas shooting for takedowns and they begin to lay on the ground trying to bait their opponent after they got a takedown stopped by their opponent.
