Not including how he won, but just that fact that he beat the guy. And only considering the quality of the opponent, and at what stage of their career his opponents were in when he beat them. In order of relevance, what would you say they are?

I'd say

1) Hendo
2) Franklin
3) Belfort
4) Sonnen
5) Marquardt

I put Marquardt at 4 and Belfort at 5. I think Belfort is possibly one of the most overrated fighters out there.

Bisping
Weidman
GSP
Jones
Bonnar

In no order

Hendo
Sonnen
Carlos Newton (love the fight)
Vitor
Franklin

No Forrest, its was barley competitive

1. Dan Henderson

No doubt. Pride-UFC unification belt and Hendo just came from a very competitive fight with Rampage.

2. Hayato Sakurai

Consensus top pound for pound fighter. Considered to be #1 by most people.

3. Forrest Griffin

Was still the LHW champion one fight ago.

4. Rich Franklin

Dominant MW and top pound for pound fighter.

5. Vitor Belfort

A huge name in the MMA world.

Franklin
Hendo
Sakuari
Belfort
Forrest

in that order

honorable mention to Newton

His resume is okay but it's really nothing impressive. When 185lbs Hendo is your best win by far, eh. Even Jake Shields and Misaki beat 185lbs Hendo without the TRT boost.

I think it's telling that it's so hard to even find a top 5.

Don't get me wrong, Anderson is a freak of nature, however he has benefited from fighting in a weak division. MW is stronger now, but he had a free ride for a while.

Hendo (was he coming off a Rampage loss here? If so, Franklin is #1)
Franklin
Okami
Griffin
Belfort

Franklin
Okami
Griffin
Belfort

I would say Hendo losing to prime Rampage in a competitive five round fight shows that Henderson is in great shape.

Forrest should definitely be in there. He was a much bigger fighter and he had just lost the belt.

1. Dan Henderson
2. Hayato Sakurai
3. Vitor Belfort
4. Rich Franklin
5. Chael Sonnen

Seriously, you can make a case for Yushin Okami, Forrest Griffin, Demian Maia, Lee Murray, Nate Marquardt, Carlos Newton etc. also being on the list.

That's the issue with Silva, the lack of names on his record. He's beaten many guys that are considered good but very few that are considered great.
