In a relatively new sport, there are always holes to exploit in order to top the competition.
Danaher and Gordon Ryan for instance exploited the weakness of the leglock game in BJJ. GSP outclassed his opponents by being the first real hybrid MMA fighter, who understood that MMA was a discipline in itself and not just an addition of Muay Thai, Wrestling and BJJ.
So whether it's strategies or techniques, there are always blind spots to exploit.
What holes do you see in nowadays MMA that are going to be exploited sooner or later?

The spinning back elbow or backfist follow-up or counter. Not that it hasn't happened, but has had good results recently. It comes from a blind spot.

It was meant to be Ortega.

Now I guess it is tuivasa

Psychological warfare gameplans

As for general approach, the GSP hybrid thing should be the standard by now but it's still ridiculously uncommon. Almost everyone we've seen good at it became champion. I blame trainers.

As for techniques, standing elbows seem to be happening more and will probably grow in popularity with Jiri around.

Elbows will become more and more effective to the point they might think in taking them out.
