Rewatch What were the most flagrant, cynical and sadistic fouls in the history of the UFC?

Chris Weidman’s combo of eye pokes to finish Bruno Silva. Eventually got overturned but at the time it was a TKO and The Chris was acting like it was a legit victory.
That shit wasnt overtuned.... they changed from tko to "technical decision" lol

And he not only acted like it was a legit win, he blamed Bruno lol

Not UFC but Prindle vs Santos in Bellator is my all time choice for sadistic/flagrant fouls.

The first time they fought Santos kicked Prindle in the groin while Prindle was on the ground. Didn't look super flagrant but non the less ended the bout.

They rematch and are in reverse positions. Santos is now on the ground with Prindle above him. The ref even screams "Don't kick him in the groin". 5 seconds later Prindle axe kicks Santos so hard in the balls that he has to leave the octagon in a stretcher. The initial report was fractured pubic bone

Protect the groin at all cost

I REMEMBER THIS!!! The only thing you got wrong is that Santos DEFINITELY did it on purpose. Looked directly at the spot he was about to kick and paused for a second like he wanted to make sure he nailed it just right. Then acted like he had no idea what he was doing and couldn't understand what the fuss was about afterwards. For some reason in the rematch I just *knew* Prindle would try to even the score. Just a horrible look for both fighters.

Can't believe no one has mentioned the most egregious fouling of all time:

God I hate YT preventing Hyperlinking. It's Gerard Gordeau (of UFC 1 fame) blinding Yuki Nakai in one eye. Interviewed about it after, he states "it's a fight". Lanky Dutch twat (no offence @BoxerMaurits)

Okay this thread has a new winner. Youtube being jerkasses again is definitely the biggest foul ever.

It's amazing to me that everyone knew Bisping was a dick but he became instantly likeable when he fought and beat Rockhold for the title. It was like everyone had to choose who they thought was less of an asshole and Bisping fought the one guy who could be a bigger asshole than him. Total character redemption.
Not to me it wasn't!!! (Whispers.) Not to me...

But yeah, that really was one of the weirdest things I've seen even by the standards of THIS place. People were even cheering Bisping for refusing to defend too!

If the fight is over, although continuing to apply subs is problematic, it's not a foul and can not incur DQ. At least I would think, haven't checked the rules though as I'm too busy rn.
Fighters have "won" fights before, but chose to continue attacking their opponents (or celebrate in incredibly unsportsmanlike ways that basically equate to assaulting the opponent, like that guy who frontflipped off the loser's back) so they ended up disqualified for it. Might not be a "foul" foul, but you must listen to the ref at all times, and they are the sole arbiter of the rules until the winner is called

I always remember Wes Sims taking two handfuls of fence and repeatedly stamping on grounded Mir's face lol.

Sims had kicked or stamped on the head of a grounded opponent before, and celebrated after the stoppage lol. 🤦‍♂️

that's it, you answered your own question lol. that was the first one that came to mind, and by far. sims was unhinged.

Santos pleading ignorance to a thing that I think is, 'It was so obvious that even being stupid shouldn't excuse you" somehow saved him from a DQ. I always thought it was weird because out of both guys, the one I would much more believe did it on accident was the one who got DQ'd.

I remember the ref even almost apologetically explaining why he had to DQ him. I don't remember the reasoning off hand, but I do remember talking about it in another thread once when talking about DQ's in general and how intention plays into them

Wes Sims, a former mixed martial artist and reality TV personality, has been involved in several legal issues. One notable incident involved a water balloon-tossing incident in Weatherford, Oklahoma, where he was charged as an adult, given a deferred sentence, and required to perform community service and pay restitution. He also faced charges related to assault, weapons, and drug possession. Separately, a cold case murder from 1996 was solved in 2020, identifying Wesley Backman as the killer, not Wes Sims.

Here's a breakdown of the incidents:

1. Water Balloon Incident:
In November 2000, Sims, then an Oklahoma University football recruit, was arrested along with four teammates for throwing water balloons from an overpass onto Interstate 40, shattering a car windshield.
He was charged as an adult and pled no contest. The penalty included a one-year deferred sentence, a weekend in jail, community service, court costs, and restitution for the damaged windshield.

2. Assault, Weapons, and Drug Charges:
In 2024, Wes Sims was arrested in Ector County, Texas, on charges including assault impeding breathing, unlawful carrying of a weapon (with a prior felony conviction), discharging a firearm in certain municipalities, and multiple drug possession charges.
He was held on a total surety bond of $103,500.

3. 1996 Cold Case Murder:
A 1996 murder case involving Tangie Sims was solved in 2020, identifying Wesley Backman as the killer.
Wes Sims, the MMA fighter, was not involved in this crime, despite the similar name.

4. Other Legal Matters:
There is a legal case, Pelayo v. Sims, involving Wesley Sims and Brittany Pelayo, regarding custody of their child, T.W.S., and child support.
The case involved disputes over Wesley's care and support of the child, his stability, and the child's best interests.
There was also a discussion of past misdemeanor shoplifting and credit card convictions of Wesley Sims.

I just rewatched it and yes it the 1st one was definitely more intentional than I remember. 2nd one was even better, 5 seconds prior the ref screams "don't kick him in the groin" and then he axe kicks him full force to the cup. Commentators were even like "I don't know whether to laugh or cry"

Oh good point. For some reason I misremembered that they overturned it. That’s awful that it just became a technical decision

Only one I can think of was this fight in Pride, where a guy just blatantly dropped an ax kick on the back of some dude's head, and then acted all innocent like it was a mistake. IIRC the fight was a mess. Pretty sure it wasn't the guy's only foul in the fight.
Bob Schriber (spelling?) vs. Daijiro Matsui. He also punched Matsui in the face while the ref had stopped the fight and was holding Matsui's hands to check his gloves. Not sure how that wasn't a DQ right there. The axe kick was after the bell, too. Bob falls out of the ring completely at one point. Wildly entertaining for all the wrong reasons.
