What was the fight that got you into MMA?????

I think it was Swanson vs Choi that put me on the path to becoming a fan, though idk if that was live or a rerun

I remember when I started watching regularly it was Adesanya vs Whittaker 1 and Usman vs Colby 1 that were my first title fights

I’m 35. Grew up a super casual fan though my dad (he would buy the big PPV’s like Shamrock, Liddell, Rampage, Tito, Couture etc) But the fight that truly got me hooked and obsessed with the sport was Diaz vs Daley.

After that one MMA became my #1 sport and to this day Nick is still my favorite fighter ever.

No, it'll be in-person, but thanks for the vote of confidence. I've already told some of my students in different classes and they're stoked. I don't know if there exists anywhere an actual class on MMA history, but I've been accidentally training to teach one these last two decades and now I'm just waiting for the green light on my sample syllabus.

Keep us posted and let us know how it goes! You could ask the school to allow a live feed during class and offer online enrollment. That’s becoming common nowadays and the school would likely be happy about the additional revenue stream.

Carlos Newton vs Pat Miletich Ufc 31. Just a bored teenager in Australia flicking through channels. Landed on this cage fighting thing having no idea what it was. Saw Newton Bulldog choke the shit out of Miletich. Was instantly hooked

Rampage vs arona. I was about 13 when I saw that fight online and I saved up some cash to watch ufc 92 live and saw him finally get his revenge against Silva. Been a fan ever since

Some Vale Tudo shit with The Axe Murdered involved

It was early 2000 and those videos were very rare to find. The resolution was about 3x1 lol.

I think they were in Napster or Emule

First fight I saw that got me into MMA was Matt Brown vs Erick Silva, however what really made me a big fan was Jones vs DC 1. Been watching ever since that fight

I credit Poirer vs. Zombie in 2012 because it was the first full event I watched starting from the prelims. The fact that it ended with such a good main event went a long way to getting me hooked.

TUF 5. Penn vs Pulver with Diaz, Manny, Maynard, Lauzon, and Hill in the tournament.

Shamrock vs Ortiz 1
Tim Sylvia vs Cabbage

Then in high school I had a friend who told me about Rampage and Cro Cop. These mysterious ufc outsiders that went by nicknames. Then I deepdived them, Fedor, Nogueira with the dark ages of internet streaming, like Daily Motion

And most of them made their way to ufc, for better or worse. Even though Pride folded it was a very exciting time seeing the world's collide

And the rest was history. For better or worse I've been a junkie. No matter what way this ship is going I'm determined to keep up and see what happens every card
