What really bothers me about Mighty Mouse

I like watching MM but what I love more is high level MMA and Johnson brings it.

Smaller weight classes just intimidate larger guys...somewhere in the back of your head, you know this little motherfucker can kill you and it keeps your big insecure ass up at night.

The smaller weightclasses are growing on me because I'm beginning to truly appreciate the freedom of movement at that weight.
LOL, it's not in the back of my head, I know for a fact he'll murk me in a fight.
It has nothing to do with my insecurities.

Personally have trained with MM, and if you had honestly said that to his face he would smile and shrug his shoulders. That's why I can't help but admire the man...

Dude gives zero fucks about what people think, and that's why he will break all of those records.

Also, I have a very decorated wrestling career at LHW and I had hell of a time getting to DJ's legs for a takedown without being swarmed by strikes. I've also seen MM make professional football players from the Seattle Seahawks (a Super Bowl winning team) fold like a chair.

Idk how you idiots tick, but it's clear you have never ever trained.

Did I say something about him being a bad fighter or bad personality?
Again, I just don't find his fights entertaining at all.

And don't make stupid assumptions, I trained.

I like the guy, but let's face it, most of us agree his division is too small to be entertaining.
Now, MM is IMO P4P number 1, because he is simply the most dominant champion in his division.
He has 7 title defenses and on a 9 fights win streak . If nothing changes, he'll probably begin breaking records like:
- Longest reign as a Champion (6y 8m 22d) - Anderson Silva
- Most wins in title bouts (12) - GSP
- Most title bouts (15) - Randy Couture
- Longest winning streak (16) - Anderson Silva
- Most consecutive title defenses (10) - Anderson Silva

I may sound like an asshole, but the idea of MM holding all those records really bothers me.
What do you think?

Yes, MM is about to break all those records. lol

I dont take his fights seriously, if he had anything about him then he would go back to 135, where he would win some and lose some and be mid-tier. flyweight is a joke, most of the guys he has fought are prelim fighters and should never fight for a title, nameless faces.
If he had anything about him..... mid-tier..........

Preliminary fighters, as if the UFC does bout order by skill.......

Most of the UFC are prelim fighters. Nameless faces.

If he earns those records, then he should have the respect that comes with them.

Lol at the idiots ITT questioning the depth/talent of his division. His challengers, p4p, are as good as any division. Same shit happened when Anderson Silva was making it look easy.

Really, what weight division doesn't seem shallow when there's a dominant champ? At one point, MW seemed that way, too when Anderson was murdering people, and LHW has seemed shallow as of late also. Assuming on Jones beats Cormier again, he's an Anthony Johnson fight away from the same people saying "LHW is a weak/shallow division" if they haven't already. That said if there were no Jones or Mighty Mouse, and the belt was changing hands every other fight (like LHW pre-Jones), then their outlook would be the total opposite, most likely.

Parity gives the illusion of depth, and dominance gives the illusion of a lack of depth. The reality is the guys they are beating are good/great, the champs are just that much better.

...and a question I have is at what point do weight classes matter to certain people? When they are bigger than you?

Get mad at UFC.

MM openly states he will fight whoever the UFC puts in front of him and that he doesn't care who it is. It's up to UFC to keep their champs with a supply of competitive contenders.

I don't have a problem with him and he's a good fighter but I do agree in the catch 22 when you consider he might break Anderson's record

Sure it's good to have a record and that will keep him motivated

But it wouldn't be the same...and that's a pretty big understatement

Demetrious's title defence competition has been on a similiar level to Andersons.

Cejudo = Sonnen
Dodson = Vitor
Benavidez x 2 = Franklin x 2

I don't think anyone could see Demetrious having problems with equivalents of Okami, Leites, or Cote. The likes of Horiguchi and Bagautinov were just as good.

Those stats will be forever meaningless as long as he keeps fighting in the UFC's Daycare section.

Still better than heavyweight and not significantly better or worse than light heavyweight.

I agree. The competition in the weightclass isn't there, plus, cmon now, they are midgets

Mighty Mouse is one of the best fighters to ever compete in MMA. He's also a cool guy. I'm a fan.

percemtage wise . there just aren't that many males on this planet that small, much smaller pool

Umm no. I completely disagree and reject your premise. To reiterate my original point if you felt the same way about watching Anderson's run as you do about Johnsons run thus far......then wow. Wow wow. I guess we just view Mma differently.

Anderson was must see tv the whole time.

I don't get the hate, War MM

Anderson had some of the most mesmerizing performances ever, but DJ is doing some incredible stuff too and his reign isn't yet finished. I don't see it as some day and night difference. Anderson did something special and now so is DJ.

Fair enough. We agree and disagree. DJ is doing great work in his division. I can't see him having performances equaling, all things included, Anderson's performance vs rich 1, Vitor, Forrest and Henderson for example. I just can't see it. I had people who had never seen Mma come over and watch him once. Next time I spoke with those people it was "hey man are you having an Anderson silva party again?"

Sure. To be fair pretty much everyone thought of Anderson/Rich as soon as DJ did his work on Cejudo. Also there were things DJ did that Anderson couldn't match either, just different.
