What really bothers me about Mighty Mouse

I like the guy, but let's face it, most of us agree his division is too small to be entertaining.
Now, MM is IMO P4P number 1, because he is simply the most dominant champion in his division.
He has 7 title defenses and on a 9 fights win streak . If nothing changes, he'll probably begin breaking records like:
- Longest reign as a Champion (6y 8m 22d) - Anderson Silva
- Most wins in title bouts (12) - GSP
- Most title bouts (15) - Randy Couture
- Longest winning streak (16) - Anderson Silva
- Most consecutive title defenses (10) - Anderson Silva

I may sound like an asshole, but the idea of MM holding all those records really bothers me.
What do you think?

It really doesn't matter what records he holds. He is a big fish in a pond with only a few. Beating the same guys over and over.

i can't even see him without my glasses....

Mighty mouse isn't boring for me, there are different forms of exciting, I love Wanderlei, I also love watching Dom Cruz fight, for completely different reasons but they both get me excited.

DJ seems like a good dude. Would like for him to hold those records.

Plus, if he breaks those records he's earned it. DJ is an all time great IMO.

If he stays at flyweight he will most likely hold all those records easily. He's a step above his class. Probably the best fighter below 145 to ever grace the octagon imo.

You know what bothers me about...uh...hold on...I know this..mm that's it is that he doesn't have a signature win yet. He is absolutely the best fighter to ever compete 125. No doubt. Who's #2?

Benavidez?

The division is so shallow that I'm not even sure he'll have enough fights to break those records.

You're right, you do sound like an asshole. No worries pal, you're hardly the only one. Many here are equally retarded in their ridiculous indifference.

Like it or not, the Mighty GOAT era is here. Get used to it fellas.

I dont take his fights seriously, if he had anything about him then he would go back to 135, where he would win some and lose some and be mid-tier. flyweight is a joke, most of the guys he has fought are prelim fighters and should never fight for a title, nameless faces.

Really? Take a massive income cut, to fight at a higher weight class that doesn't suit him? Do you know he already fought at 135 and was very successful.

his records are as good as Ronda. A shallow division, no true challenge

If you knew anything about Mighty Mouse other than the trolls posts you read on Sherdog, you'd be happy for the guy and want him to succeed. Certainly more so than hit-n-run Jones.

The 125 division simply isn't dangerous enough, which is why it's not as exciting. I enjoy it though.

What bothers me is that Uncle Creepy should have won their first fight

Yes, Uncle Creepy got F'd by uncle "creepier fester" Dana.

I cannot possibly bother to watch garbage that didn't even rate a professional scorekeeper to tally the bullshit unprofessional scores the A-hat judges put forth.

What a laugh! Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me 2x. . . . . .

I will NEVER watch a UFC 125 pound male fight post that horse crapola, hence I will not be midget marketed.

I know that I am not alone when 50+% of the fans abandon the venue MM fights in prior to his "?Contest?". It is likely the same with the home viewer fans.

At bare minimum they should have kept their BS win on the record books for their predetermined champion rather that declare a draw in hindsight overturning it to a Draw proving the entire division is a sham! What utter embarrassment!

Really, what weight division doesn't seem shallow when there's a dominant champ? At one point, MW seemed that way, too when Anderson was murdering people, and LHW has seemed shallow as of late also. Assuming on Jones beats Cormier again, he's an Anthony Johnson fight away from the same people saying "LHW is a weak/shallow division" if they haven't already. That said if there were no Jones or Mighty Mouse, and the belt was changing hands every other fight (like LHW pre-Jones), then their outlook would be the total opposite, most likely.

Parity gives the illusion of depth, and dominance gives the illusion of a lack of depth. The reality is the guys they are beating are good/great, the champs are just that much better.

...and a question I have is at what point do weight classes matter to certain people? When they are bigger than you?

He'll capture those records for sure. But what happens when he moves up to 135 and keeps winning? Maybe get the respect he deserves.
you have 2 be 145 or over to get respect.

Just think how different the division could have gone if the judge didn't fuck up in his first fight against Ian McCall. He had Mm flattened out pounding on him at the end of round 3 and it would of went another round because they were having that 4 man tourney for the belt.

Joseph Benavidez and DJ's signature win is KHTFO.

McCall would have went on to lose to Benavidez who would have went on to lose to MM...so nothing really except DJ would have a win over a former champion. I don't think most realize that DJ gassed in the first fight because of a bad weight cut (when does Mighty Mouse gas!?). Maybe if McCall didn't clown around he could have gotten the fluke win but he didn't and was handily beaten in the rematch by a non-depleted Mighty Mouse.

He's the best rounded, best conditioned and most continually improving of the champions. He's like a GSP that's getting better at finishing people over time instead of vice versa.

When people are leaving before your main event and in the middle of it, then its time to move up and fight quality opponents. Good fighter but his fight are boring to me, maybe its the lack of skills by his opponents which isn't MM fault.

MM is one of the most complete fighters in the UFC and I find it exciting to watch him fight.
