Just trying to figure out how underpaid the fighters still seem to be in 2016.
If UFC 196 sold 1.5 million, at $50/$60 a pop (SD/HD), that is $75,000,000. Now if the UFC gets 50% of that, that is still $37,500,000. Plus the $8,100,000 at the gate.

$45,600,000 total
Total fighter pay was probably under $4,000,000

No wonder Dana is reportedly worth $350,000,000. 1-2 years ago he was worth $300,000,000.....UNBELIEVABLE!

Gotta remember that revenue =/= profit. But yeah fighters are still taking a disgustingly low cut of the pure profits.

i think lots of people want to know, ufc wants to dance around that and give people gifts here and there to distract, standard game has been going on for a while - the lawsuit, in a lot of ways, is just a small push toward that general desire to get more information public on the ufc's finances so that people can potentially go wild and force some public pressure

lot of people would argue ufc owns and deserves that high share / percent bc they made something out of nothing - there would be no business if they didnt invest their dollars - most other promotions go belly up trying to cater to people, ufc instead invested in legitimately growing the busines for a long time, even investing in getting it sanctioned etc.

normally i would support the business here, but just seeing the fighters so often, i wish they made more money so i take the bleeding heart liberal view a bit more

the pay is going up, connor the 1st guy publicly getting 1 million to show disclosed, i personally think its fair, dont want more mayweathers running about ruining networks/fights etc

close to around 80%

in Boxing promoters only get like 20%

i think its a lot easier and smarter to just stop caring about this stuff.

45,600,000 GROSS income
Less - fighter pay + bonuses + ppv points paid out (like you said)
Less - sales taxes + income taxes + worker's comp for employees + payroll taxes
Less - all the other staff they have to pay (oct. girls, commentators/analysts
Less - rental of the building
Less - advertising/commercials
Less - Athletic commission fees
Less - drug testing expense
Less - whatever the fuck else

Sure, it is still probably a huge number, but it's not 45 mill...shit, probably not even half that.

yeah the pays are going up for no more than fighters.

conor, ronda, sage.

while you have others still on 8/8 or something, and now i just looked it up, barberena was on 8/8 2 fights before he finished sage with nothing locked on.

This concern with UFC revenue and fighter pay always baffles me. Try asking your employer how much money they take in so you can see if your share lines up in some percentage that you deem favourable. It's someone else's income - they don't care about your income, expenses, etc - why is sherdog always so concerned with fighter pay? Wanting fighters to get paid more and also saying $60 is too much for a PPV doesn't line up.

oh the usual thread about fighter pay

Yeah, that piece of shit only fought literally everyone. He ruined all those fights that could have been in our minds.

That's between Zuffa and the provider.

the ufc has to pay its own employees not just the fighters

I'd bet Conor alone made more than your estimate of $4M. Conor's disclosed purse just for show was $1M before any PPV points or bonuses and he claims to have gotten more than $10M. All the champs are PPV partners, so Holly got it too on top of her $500k show money. Diego Sanchez got $150k in disclosed pay and he was on the fight pass prelims.

The estimates are that the UFC made around $30 million for the event, and that is for the 2nd biggest even they've ever had, and also is what the company made, not just Dana. I'd be surprised if Dana's share was much more than Conor's for the event.

Yeah the fighters are getting killed still. Maybe less so than 10 years ago.

I believe the next tv deal, fox or another network, will see the fighters change their approach and get a bigger piece
