I mean, he is putting tariffs on China now.
Yeah but not for that reason. But them churning out less cheap tat for Americans to buy is definitely a positive of the tariffs for me.

Yeah because politics is to an extent subjective and based on one's value. For instance I think Hitler was a bad guy through and through but if you hate "greedy Jews" like Bryce Mitchell then you think he was more of a mixed bag.Isn’t all of that subjective?
I think his policies are bad so personally I don't but if you hate immigrants, free trade, and the global liberal order headed by America then yeah you might see it that way.By those measures, isn’t Trump successfully implementing his strategy?
No.Do you have any hard measures?
Why?Tbh that's what you actually should be using tariffs for.
The “no” to the last question essentially means that unless they are a part of your team no president can be successful.Yeah because politics is to an extent subjective and based on one's value. No.
I don’t think any amount of anything will stop those nations from pollutingYeah but not for that reason. But them churning out less cheap tat for Americans to buy is definitely a positive of the tariffs for me.
No that's not what it means but not surprised you'd have that kind of hack reply. I thought you were supposed to be turning over a new leaf in the new year but I guess not.The “no” to the last question essentially means that unless they are a part of your team no president can be successful.

There are objective measures one can use to gauge performance but you have to contextualize them to the particular circumstances. If there are no objective measures, and you only view success as implementation of the policies you like, then how can a member of the opposing party ever be successful?

What if he says he’s going to close the border, deport illegals and lower taxes, does those things, and inflation increases, markets crash and crime increases and we become weaker globally?I explained this in my previous post already - Does the President accomplish what he claims he will do during his term? If Trump says he's going to close the border, deport illegals, and lower taxes, then he goes ahead and does all these things during his term, that is success. I may believe his policies are total bullshit and harmful, but if he did what said he'd do then he's successful. Did he meet his stated goals? Yes or no, it's really that simple. It doesn't matter what his goals are or whether I agree with them.

so no, it’s not really that simple.

Those are still things of which you believe to be important/impactful which make them non-objective.There are objective measures one can use to gauge performance but you have to contextualize them to the particular circumstances.
I think Trump mismanaged the pandemic overall but Operation Warp Speed was a resounding success. The president marshalled resources at his disposal towards the end of quickly developing a safe and effective vaccine and it worked.
Through tariffs? If anything China produces cheap solar panels so tariffs in China would hurt the transition to green energy. To encourage the countries that are damaging the environment to stop damaging the environment

That’s retarded.This is a fine position.
“Were they able to successfully execute on their campaign promises” if yes — successful presidency. If no — unsuccessful presidency.
There are so many facets to life and global politics that it’s impossible to have strictly objective criteria. Those are still things of which you believe to be important/impactful which make them non-objective.
The question was are there measures of which you can view any president as successful. You said you have no hard measures and they have to be “contextualized” which essentially is saying “was this successful in my eyes?”.
It’s fine to say that’s your position, but it means that you view everything subjectively. In other words, if you like it, it’s good — if you don’t, it’s bad.
