What makes you think that Costa won't do to strickalnd what he did to Romero?

for myself? no matter what the outcome of this fight, I probably won't be surprised. I've gone back and forth on how I think this fight will play out and I really have no guess. which is why it's an exciting match up, says me. so many variables, could go either way

Because Sean isn't a 40+ year old intermittent power brawler like Yoel. This much closer to Whittaker vs. Costa. I'm not sure why people can't see that. As long as Sean is mentally and physically prepared, this is his fight to lose.

You think Costa's path to victory is throwing hooks?

I favor Sean because his volume jabs and philly shell counter that type of style. Straight punches down the middle.

If Whittaker can easily out point Costa so can Strickland. Costa's only shot is the KO because Stickland will be significantly ahead on strike numbers every round.

Dude might have staph coming into the fight. Will have to be conservative with his approach.

No comparison to Romero/Strickland imo. Costa/Izzy seems like decent MMAth though.

Costa was timid AF vs Izzy because I would assume he was worried about the counter-punching. That fight was a long time ago, & maybe he's corrected this hole in his game, but my point is that in order for him to apply pressure, he's going to have to bring the fight to a guy can piece him up for it.

Its gonna take some big counter hooks to drop Sean and as the rounds go, I see less chance of it happening

Sean will be jabbing, parrying, and flicking out his front-kicks all night long for a rather boring UD imo

Costa barely handled the shell of an ancient Rockhold, who was getting finished right and left by other fighters. But he should "handle" a guy who beat Izzy decisively and had very close SDs with DDP and Cannonier?
Styles make fights and I think (maybe I'm wrong) that Costa started believing in himself again after the Whittaker fight.
If he is going to be timid and afraid of slugging it out with pillowfisted Sean he should consider retirement because bulldozing forward is his style that has worked for him more often than not if he wasn't afraid to go forward and make it dirty. Izzy planted some panic into his brain but the Rob fight brought the confidence back I believe.

We will see how he does. In my mind, if he is going to go for it he should clock Sean at some point or outglapple him.

It's cute when sherdoggers still believe Costa is going to get a win over a fighter that will remain on the UFC roster.

He's definitely up there for one of the most overrated fighters of the past decade.

Romero even had a massive KO threat and also a takedown threat, which strickland has none of these. Costa will likely just overwhelm Strickland by coming forward and throwing hooks combinations. He will catch strickland against the fence sooner and later and knock him out. Strickland can't fight when someone puts pressure on him. Once Dricus started to put pressure on strickalnd in round 3, he was beating up sean and took over the fight. Costa hits harder than Dricus and has better boxing. This is easy money.
I was expecting same when he faced Izzy but he didn't.

anyway, I still favor Costa here

Costa was never the same after that fight cause he teared off his biceps that day. And then after surgery it happened again during training. He became gun shy and started to rely more on kicks. He lost quite a bit of power after those injuries

I think that affected him more than Izzy breaking his confidence

I've never heard/knew that before. Costa tore his biceps twice!? 😲

Yeah after the fight with Romero a few weeks later I saw an interview where he mentions the injury and he was on surgery recovery. Then some months later he went back to training for the Izzy fight and the wound opened up again. That's why they postponed the fight and did Izzy vs Romero instead
