What knife did you carry today?

Someone at my office complained to HR about my knife. I was called in to a meeting with the HR person and my boss. I showed them my benchmade and they told me I can't bring it to work anymore. People are really jumpy these days because of all the mass stabbings in the news.

So of course yesterday I go to open a couple boxes of copy paper and I reach for my knife and it's not there. Not a huge deal, but I had to use scissors! SCISSORS MAN!!!

I think I have a pretty good idea who ratted me out as well.

I am not one to complain about the "wussification" of society, but ffs.

Life requires a knife and a pen. I keep both clipped inside my pocket wherever I go. It's basic stuff, and I think it's awful you can't carry one to work.

My knife and my pen.

Yeah I know the feeling I was just in Italy for 2 weeks and couldn't carry my knife.

I spent the weekend in Amsterdam and knives are not allowed there...The first days without a knife in about a year. I felt so naked!

The funny thing is, I have a really heavy red stapler that I could probably do more damage with than a sub 3 inch blade.

Bro, that sucks. Could you carry a SAK or multi tool with a blade? Razor knife? How far does this policy extend?

I'm thinking a smaller SAK or maybe one of those smaller leatherman's would be ok.

What the hell was the complaint? Did someone feel threatened?

Sonny, pen knife is the way to go.

It's funny mentioned the stapler, because I don't carry a gun at work. So I've devised a plan to deal with a crazy fucked up situation. It involves throwing my stapler first, then my phone.

I figure with those two items tossed at an assailant, I can close the distance.

You can buy a SAK and have it pimped by Cuscadi. I really dig their pimped SAKs...

Yep.

There was a story out of Toronto about a guy going crazy at his office and he ended up stabbing 4 co-workers. Then a story a day later about 5 kids dying at a house party because a dude went on a rampage and stabbed them.

I guess they were on edge about that.

Idiocy is not limited to just knives. I remember when I first started carrying a knife and the dumb questions and comments I received, but I also got questions about my flashlight for fuck's sake. I started answering stupid questions with stupid answers,

Dumbass: "What do you need that for?"

Me: "To illuminate dark areas."

But I may just start throwing creepy shit out there to get people to fuck off, "So I can see into your bedroom at night."

That said, I doubt I'll get stupid questions anymore, everyone in rural Saskatchewan has a pocket knife and a rifle in the cab.

That's pretty cool.
I'd probably keep carrying, just without the pocket clip.

Just made and ordered this. It's a Benchmade Mini Griptilian, I chose the Tanto serrated blade made with there S30V steel and some added graphics. It cost about 175$ and will be here in 10 days :D

Not gonna lie, when I first saw those, I thought that the finishes on the blade were just really worn.

Same. I thought it was an old knife. I'm not hating, I'd take it for sure.

Does it look like shit? be honest haha

I don't think so. It probably looks better in person.
Kershaw has a new stone washed finish that I love and of course Strider has gorgeous finishes on their blades.
