What knife did you carry today?

Yeah, I got that Gerber for like $20 at Walmart for my emergency bag. It's a nice size.

My new edc is the leathermen skeletool cx. Love it- great knife, pliers, and screwdriver and small enough to have in a pocket all day.

I also have a few kershaw knives i really like- mainly the blur.

Wish list - benchmade mini gript.

Im not a very big fan of the design of spyderco's, not sure why

It's a little dirty, but I just got this knife back from a friend (I left it in his car years ago).
Not sure what the markings mean.

My vic climber is my travel knife. Took it on my vacation to Hawaii despite the wife rolling her eyes at me. Came in handy when she wanted some patio beers with limes.

"I want some limes but we don't have a knife."

I carry a Spyderco Endura 4 with VG-10 steel. Been carrying Spyderco's since my Marine Corps days and have never really used anything else.

Maybe I'm weird, but something about Emersons make them seem smaller to me than they really are. Liking it so far, but I also feel like I have to relearn the wave. The hook is a lot smaller than on my waved Endura.

I get what you mean. I'm torn between getting a full sized commander or waiting for a mini commander. Looking at the specs the mini seems like the better option for me but my CQC 7V feels smaller in hand than it actually is.

Do you buy from W&W? Because when I bought my CQC 8 from there, it seemed like they had been out of black, plain edged Commanders for quite sometime.

For me, it's probably because the scales feel so beefy and while the blade stock is thick, it seems small compared against the rest of the knife; almost disproportionate, but the balance is excellent.

I'm looking at replacing the thumb disc with a headstamp from one of my fired .357 Magnum casings. The Emerson website wants fucking $60 for a .45 ACP thumb stud.

Yeah I order from W&W. I tried ordering a black PE Commander a few months ago after getting an alert that they were back in stock. By the time I made it to my computer, they had sold out. I definitely think PE mini and full sized commanders with the black blades are the most popular models.

Is the lock on your 8 sticky at all? How about the opening? Was/Is it gritty at all?

The lock is fine, I suppose. As for the opening, it doesn't seem as smooth as many of my other folders, when opened conventionally with the thumb disc, but the 8 is also my only coated blade so far.

Edit:

Gotta love Hoppe's No. 9, I've yet to see a knife that hasn't slicked up nicely after a drop or two.

FWIW my 7 was gritty. I took it apart and cleaned it up, added a drop of lube and now it's smooth. I added a drop of blue Loctite on the pivot as well.

I've been testing out carrying a small fixed blade for edc so I've been carrying my Izula II for the past couple of weeks.

My wife had a total cow when I bought it even thought it's the smallest knife I own.
