The Spyderco Cricket with the camo handle is my key chain. Fantastic tool, gorgeous too.

OK, so review of the knives I purchased last week:
1) Leatherman Skeletool – Meh. Think of it like a bare bones Charge: smaller and less tools, but only the tools you’d actually use. The selling point is also its main drawback. The smaller size doesn’t fit my hand very well, but it also has most of the tools I would need in an EDC multi-tool, including a nice, sharp knife, pliers, screwdriver with interchangeable bits, and a bottle opener/caribiner. Because of the fit, I don’t see myself using it every day
2) Gerber Hook Safety knife – Avoid. The design was cool but in the end it’s not a very practical tool for carrying around. The little sheath and clip are extremely tight
3) Kershaw Scrabler – Good, but with drawbacks. Very nice looking knife, extremely sharp. Possibly too nice for an EDC…I’d hate to scratch it up! The main drawbacks are a matter of preference. There’s no thumb stud, so the only way to open it is with the speed assist on the back of the blade. Another feature I’ll have to get used to is the pocket clip is mounted on the bottom of the handle instead of the top. It might not sound like a big deal, but most blades are built the other way around, so it feels strange when you try to put it back into your pocket and the clip isn’t where you thought it would be. The final drawback is the safety release is on the handle instead of on the inside. While I’m not worried about it collapsing while I’m using it, it’s sort of a pain to close the blade if you are gripping the handle too hard.

Man Strider knives look so good but damn I can't stand what they do with bottom of that blade. Massive waste of space that could have been cutting edge imo.

I hate knives that have notches and hooks in the blade. They seem to just get caught up on stuff you're cutting.

Anyway, I just got A Kershaw Blur as a gift and am loving it so far.

Are you referring to that one smaller "divet" or the finger choil?

Should have been more specific.

The divet or sharpening notch. It is overkill it could have been extremely small. On some models it is over a 1/4 inch. They should add a bit of gimping to that choil though.

Anyone have a side opening auto?

I've been thinking of picking one up.

I took a look on blade hq a couple days ago and just picked a handful I liked. Mostly on looks, I will look further into the specs on them just wanted to see if any of you guys had experience/thoughts with any of these or any auto.

I don't have experience with side opening autos but they have always interested me. I've quickly played with a couple a few years ago but I wasn't looking to buy at the time and I don't even know what models I looked at. I have experience with assisted opening and otf's.

I just have a boker kalishnikov auto but for 35$ it's a nice budget knife. I read that bladehq uses good springs for their autos and I can say that it feels strong when it opens and it does open fast.

i only use the knife choked up into the finger choil, and i never have issues catching the sharpening choil on anything.

I prefer them on blades as they help prevent ugly complications with the ricasso and plunge line on knives that get sharpened a lot

Carried the Infidel yesterday and the ZT today. So far I really like both my new purchases.

Forgot to tell you guys but my daughter was born on May 26th.

Reason why I'm telling you guys?

We named her Emerson.

Crkt. M16 - 14dsfg. One of the best knives I ever owned. Survived 2 combat deployments. And carry it every day at work.

Hey guys, I'm looking at a Cold Steel mini Recon 1 or a CS mini AK 47. Any thoughts or suggestions?

I like both but I slightly prefer the mini recon configuration (spear point or clip point) over the ak47 for EDC use.

If I was going for more of a tactical intent, I would go with the ak47 as it can be waved from the pocket, the ergos of the handle are suited to it more, and the but end of the handle has the stock strike point as well.
