What knife did you carry today?

Recently lost my cold steel voyager. Bummed. It was a pretty good knife. Gonna get a recon 1 as a replacement knife.

Kershaw Blur s30v. I have a hard time sharpening the recurve, everytime I try to get it back to factory sharpness it always ends up a little toothy. O well it still works.

You know they will sharpen it for free, right?

I've had pretty good experience sharpening recurves on my sharpmaker.

If only I could say the same thing about tanto blades.

Do you ever sharpen your knives yourself or do you typically send back for sharpening service?

I've seen some guys on the emerson forum who never sharpen their own blades, they always send back to Emerson for that.

That's a great option, I guess, but not possible when you're not in the states or Canada. I sharpen all my knives on my Sharpmaker and it works great. Last weekend I sharpened about a dozen kitchen knives for friends and family, and even knives in terrible condition ended up alright. And people cut themselves because they're stupid.

But more importantly: Hatin or Persian?

I prefer the Persian because I like the sleekness of the design. The blade just flows perfectly into the handle.

The Hatin is a limited run though so you get some exclusivity just by owning it.

I would take the Persian still but that's just me.

I try to not start doing this whole one off-limited edition-bling bling-thing with knives, I just try to buy good knives that serve my purpose.
The Persian is just fabulous, but the Hatin has the Wave, which I usually like, and seems to be a little less fragile. But it's also much more expensive, so I'll probably get a Persian for Christmas...

When I go camping I carry a hand-me-down "fixed" knife. I don't know what they're called, it's not a switchblade or retracts or anything.

I don't sharpen my own. I don't own the equipment. I've always just sent them in. I have enough in my rotation so it's not an issue of being without.
I'd like to learn to sharpen my own though and I hear the Sharp Maker is an excellent option.

Today I carried my Emerson CQC-7, my Strider MFS IWB in the new Kydex, my Emerson La Griffe in my custom wallet and an ESEE Zancudo with scales around my neck. I carry too many knives.

Which la Griffe do you have? I've been looking at the stonewashed model.

I have the coated one, I was afraid the stonewashed one would quickly rust...

154cm usually does pretty good with moisture but I hear you.

I've read a lot about people having that issues with their Brous silent soldiers but those are made from D2. Mine has held up fairly well thus far.

My Super-CQC8 rusts pretty quickly when I carry it during summer, but my sweat seems to do that to every steel. That's also why I sold my SLCC, I'm not carrying a coated 300$-blade to have it rust every damn day...

Wife gave me a spyderco gayle Bradley for my birthday. Pretty slick blade. I might actually look at forcing a patina on this blade. I think it would look pretty sweet.
