What kind of fighter would it take to beat Topuria?

When (if tbh) Topuria loses, I'd bet anything it comes with him being finished in the 1st or maybe 2nd round. People fight him as if he's going to slow down in the later rounds and they can pick him off, but that just isn't likely to happen. I think to beat him you have to go right at him early and catch him cold.

Diego Lopes probably has the best shot, but I'd still pick against him. I also think someone like a Yair has a better shot than most fighters, even though I don't think he's really top of the pack, but he can absolutely catch him.

You can rewatch the whole fight itself if you are not poor.

I know which leg he kicked with, I'm not confident in you telling the truth about which leg he was limping on or if you are even competent enough to comprehend which leg he was limping on.

Maybe someone like Sterling can get on his back, idunno...

Ilia is in top form, is technical and powerful as F, and has great grappling considering he's gonna be the striking favorite in every fight he's in. Sometimes dudes have things all together and they look unbeatable for a while, right now he seems unbeatable.

There’s this one dude called Father time. He’s undefeated.

He's a traditional wrestleboxer so my guess would be an unorthodox kickboxer.

His defense to kicks isn't spectacular. He's been kicked in the head by Goncalves, Hall, and Herbert.
I wouldn't pick either man, but I think Lopes and Yair both pose a threat if they can coax him into a sloppier, less disciplined striking match.

While he doesn't fit my description above, Evloev can't be ruled out if he gets past Sterling. The guy is 18-0, with excellent fundamentals and he's good everywhere. I don't know what it would take to knock that guy out, but apparently it's more than Lopes has to offer.

Topuira has a better chin than Holloway, I have been telling people that him surviving that Herbert headkick is not human and already proof that he has an iron chin. No one will KO Topuira, the key to beating him is to drag him to the latter rounds cause we know his cardio isn't the best. This is why Evloev has the best chance of beating Topuira out of all of them.

Lopes is super overrated, with his defense most of the top 5 in FW will not just beat him they will beat him easily. Certainly he is one of the few that has worse cardio than Topuira and cannot dream of outlasting him.

Ts - Armenian
Topuria - Georgian
Armenia + Georgia good neighbours
Topuria - unbeatable armenian
Arman - Armenian
Only guy who can beat Ilia
Islam us the 4 to 1 betting favorite
But ts is the idiot in this story

It was a no wind up tricky lead high kick. Def can survive it. But solid chin and a lot of heart to atack right after it.

Does Max not have good movement?
Absolutely!
I'd like to see more pivots in general and angle changes (as possible considering the restrictions of the sport) from close quarters and/or punching range.

Strong leg/calf kicks, distance control, good defensive striking, constant circling away from his power left, stay off the cage.
Ilia finishes every fight the same way, a smaller pressure combination making guys step back then thr second their back hits the fence he unloads.

Someone needs to chop st his base to reduce the explosiveness of his takedowns and forward movement, while constantly circling. Haven't seen his cardio tested off the backfoot, nor his bottom game. We've seen him rocked multiple times, even by guys like Jai Herbert, so he seems like he may be a bit chinny. Chop him down for 3 rounds, finish him in the champion rounds is probably how his reign will end.

I hate to say this and even throw my boy in there

But wouldn’t Barboza be fun as fuck while it lasted?

Helluva fight

Top is goat tier in all areas, so you'd need someone who is exactly the same. Then just make him bigger and longer he could beat Top.

Maybe someone with good kicks, like Yair Rodriguez, but with good BJJ.
Or some pressure wrestler like Evloev or Sterling.

A less punch-drunk Holloway and a less concussed Volk could probably do it.
Sterling could backpack him, but it would be a toss up between that and going to sleep.

Hes susceptible kicks. Hes been hurt bad twice by head kicks.. His leg is right there to get hit and like I said because of his stance his head is there too.. You're not outboxing him or outwrestling him unless you're Islam even then I think it would be pretty even and Islam will be forced to stand and strike with Ilia.

Islams kicks would be a bigger threat to Ilia than his wrestling in my opinion. Especially since theyre opposite stance of each other. Yair would be a tricky match up for him because Yair's legs are his best weapons.

You would need to combine a prime Floyd Mayweather Jr with a prime Khabib

A fighter with strong grappling, including wrestling that can make Ilia think twice before throwing haymakers.

A fighter with persistent endurance and the ability to keep those hands up in the middle of wild exchanges, or has a way to get through one of those haymakers.

A shame that unlike Volk, Ilia has real knockout power in his hands so attempting to throw caution into the wind moving forward is a bad idea.
