What is the greatest sci-fi movie?

I actually do prefer the first Terminator to the sequel. It's not as high budget, but it's a lot darker and some of the cheesy affects have a lot of charm.

My favourite is Coherence. It's an indie film that deals with parallel realities, really well made. I like sci. fi. that makes you think. Action and explosions isn't enough.

There's a solid argument to be made that it's the best science fiction action movie of all time, although I'd still pick the first one if that was the case.

In popular opinion it's probably between Terminator 2 and Aliens for best science fiction action.

I can't pick a #1, but Children of Men, Minority Report, and Invasion of the Body Snatchers deserve mentions.
On the list I'd go with Blade Runner (one of the director cut versions)

It's one of the best action movies of all time. Same with Aliens.

But as science fiction it pales next to the likes of 2001 or the first Alien or Solaris etc...
