What is MMA Guru´s deal? He gets way too involved with the fighters and makes it personal

I haven’t watched his show in years so no I can’t say I have, does he still host the Monday show?

It shouldn’t be competition but Guru attracts a different fanbase Ariel fails to get at all, he’s surpassed Ariel via subs on YouTube while being there half the time so he’s doing something right.

Personally I don’t like either, I find gurus voice and mannerisms annoying and Ariel is just too boring for me but he is the only journalist to put pressure on Dana so that’s good.

I will say Guru is thriving while Ariel seems to be floundering, so he’s doing something right considering the numbers and overtaking Ariel on YouTube via subs. Ariel is a pioneer of MMA journalism but he seems to be failing at “getting with the times” and connecting with newer fans as opposed to guru.

Probably the audience overlap between Guru and Ariel is fairly small. This seems to be a common case of serious journalism (Helwani) vs. the YouTube equivalent of tabloid journalism (Guru).

As social/online media access proliferates, so does the monetization and exploitation of ragebait/angertainment. It was already bad with the spread of car crash programs on our TV, but tabloids now as easy-to-consume videos on mobile devices, consumer engagement is being diverted to all the wrong shit.

MMAGuru is severely overweight and I think majority of women find him repulsive to look at. From a physical perspective, he seems very lazy and unhygienic. If he spent as much time on grooming his beard, exercising and learning about healthy eating as he did criticizing fighters 100x more successful than him, he would probably look better and be more respected
