what is best running shoes?

A couple of athletes told me that Asics have gone downhill. But yeah our feet are not all the same so its mostly opinions

they could be referring to asics 33 line, which is supposed to appeal to those who like the idea of a minimalist shoe.

not the best idea for a true athlete.

Running 7 miles everyday. Feeling great. I hate treadmill.

The serious runners that I know use Brooks, Mizuno, and Asics.
The problem is that those are runners, and we're not all runners. Most of us just run/jog to cross-train.

I'm someone who as an athlete wasn't overweight even when I got up to 260 pounds (I was around 10-11% bodyfat at that weight). Nikes, Mizuno, and Asics were torture. It wasn't until I bought New Balance that my feet wouldn't hurt after just a few miles. They designed a specific pair that was like a bespoke shoe designed specifically for me, but came off a manufacturing line-- the 586NV. It was designed for larger and heavier athletes with maximal cushioning and motion control (not weight) as the chief design ambitions; specifically to counter pronation. It was also the only large shoe company at the time that manufactured shoes in multiple widths, so I was able to get the "EE" wide. I liked them so much that I ended up buying two more pairs in case the line got canceled. Fantastic decision.

Because they're so heavy competitive runners tend to hate them, but I didn't care, and I figured, if anything, that was just more strength. I did time myself on runs, and made an effort to progress, but it wasn't like I was worried about reaching certain times during my practice runs such that it mattered how heavy my shoes were. Racing wasn't my sport, so there was no need to train "sport-specific" with really lightweight running shoes because I wasn't trying to complete my practices runs as preparation for a race. All that mattered was conditioning and progress, not my time itself. I wasn't trying to be Prefontaine.

Looks like the modern version of this shoe is called the 1540v2:

I appreciate how New Balance classifies their running shoes according to what you want.

Check this out. This is their custom process designed to help you find the right type of shoe for you:

Best running shoes I've recently found are Brooks Beast.
Super supportive, good for bigger runners with stability issues.

I've been using these. So light feels like I'm not wearing anything at all. They have also lasted quite awhile.

I've work asics, new balance, Nike, Reebok, tried them ALL while in the army and it always gave me a burning sensation in my joints for the first mile, then numb after that. Later that day I would feel like an old man and I was in my early / mid 20's.

As of two months ago I went with Under Armor, and tried to find a show that had close to a "zero drop" from heel to toe. I figured I had nothing to lose since other shoes with big cushions always hurt my feet.

My first time running I just wanted to go until I got tired, just ran around town aimlessly. After I got home, I looked and I had done 5 miles and never broke a hard sweat or had any joint pain. I expected to have only run 2.

I really recommend the Under Armor Micro G Speed Swifts

They look like mashed potato shows, but have a shit load of cushion.

Note to heavier runners: pay attention to the weight of the shoes you're considering buying. Nike has some amazing engineering, but generally speaking, you can't undo the laws of physics. If you want maximum cushioning and motion control, then the shoe is going to be heavier. Don't listen to the gazelles that do this shit for fun.

Heavier Running Shoe = Good for Your Body

Adidas ultra boost my guy, look great
And feel great I can take to the track
And the club in the same day :)

I've tried a few different types - I've settle on Nike Free. Granted I rarely do anymore than 10x 100m sprints or various 5k interval runs.

Get on that Adidas Spectrum Bounce crew. Idk if they still make these but I had them in 07ish and used to run in them all the time

I have a pair of Adidas I bought like 10 years ago. I've put countless miles on those things and they are still super comfortable. I still run in them.

I like Saucony or Asics for heavy distance, Nike Frees for everyday wear.

I've switched between New Balance 890 I think and Asics Kayano, both great shoes. I did a marathon and a half in the Asics. I wanted something lighter so I'm currently trying Newton distance. I've put about 100 km on them and still getting used to them. They are so light and I feel so much quicker but they're pretty tough on my calves.
