what fighter fan base you don’t understand?

The guys is without a question the single best fighter to compete in mma history and you don't understand how he has fans???

You can complain about his testing and legal problems all you want but you can't argue the fact that inside the octagon NOBODY has been better. Thats why he has fans.

How many of Jon's wins were assisted by PEDs? Add to that the argument for him possibly losing to Santos, Gustafsson and Reyes and suddenly JJ doesn't look so impressive. This is of course without mentioning he's a cocaine using sociopath.

So yea, I don't understand the appeal of Jones whatsoever.

Khabib

But that's mostly because his fan base only had a few years of school and can't talk english well.
His accomplishments are fine.
Haha gotcha
It’s xenophobic comments like this that are why no one likes you. o_O

but generally speaking this is true. Not just Japanese fighters but East Asians as a whole (Japan, Korea, China), they are generally not trash talkers or troublemakers.

But this thread isn't about groups of fighters, it's about particular fighters and their fanbases. Japanese MMA fans were always willing to turn a blind eye when one of their own broke (Yamamoto, Gomi) the rules and/or acted thuggish. My point stands.

I'm a fan of the triggering of sherdoggers by other sherdoggers over who they are a fan of.

The appeal is that when fans watch mma, they are not watching drug testing results nor the personal life drama in between. The actual mma content that Jones has put out is miles beyond any fighter in history.

A)Conor "fans". Not the actual fans of the sport who actually saw him fight at Featherweight in UFC, but the casuals whose response to any perceived criticism of him is "but he's so rich".

B) Costa "fans". I get being a fan of his humor (admittedly not my cup of tea), but how they make the jump from giggling at his twitter posts to saying "he's going to KO his next opponent" is beyond me. Let's take a look at Costa's UFC record - going from memory:
1) Bangbose - Costa won by KO; Bangbus cut from UFC and retired from MMA
2) McKellan - same as above
3) "Middleweight" Johnny Hendricks - same as above
4) Uriah Hall - same as above
5) Yoel Romero - close decision win for Costa, Romero still active in MMA.
6) Adesanya - Costa outclassed and KOd
7) Vettori - Costa overweight and loses a decision.
8) Rockhold - Costa decisions him but looks exhausted, Rockhold retires from MMA.

In summary: Costa has no wins over any fighter still in UFC. The only one of his wins that's still even an active MMA fighter is Yoel. Costa hasn't knocked anyone out in 5 years and is unlikely to do it again, no matter how "hilarious" he is on twitter.

Costa is funny af and beautiful.
Question answered?
WMMA fighters are way worse, and they still have fans. Even though most aren't funny nor beautiful.
