What do you think of Jailton Almeida?

I can see him getting a ts because the division is weak. Especially in two years when majority of the top 5 will be old or retired.

Stipe and Jones will retire in November, so he'll probably move up from #7 to #5 even without doing anything. Skill-wise, I currently see 4 guys above him:
1. Tom Aspinall
2. Pavlovich
3. Blaydes
4. Jones
He would be a favorite over the rest of the division.

Great grappler. He played with blaydes until he went full retard. He tends to shoot too far away though

Losing energy while only being able to maintain position and not being able to get off any GNP or sub attempts is not playing with someone lol.

And he didn't go full retard. He got tired from all the grappling that went nowhere for him in round 1. Blaydes did one technique that put a stop to his next td attempt and then clubbed him like a baby seal.

Was beautiful.

Lol Pavlovich's grappling is a myth, the last time we saw it he was getting taken down by Overeem.

He's a promising fighter and a great addition to the UFC division. He has a unique skill set that could cause problems for the top heavyweights. I definitely think he should keep putting on mass since his grappling-heavy style would benefit from it. I'm not sure about his relationship with Alex Pereira, but I really think they should train together—they'd be great training partners with their complementary skills.

His grappling is his best asset and it's where he's most comfortable. I don't think he ever beats Aspinall or Blaydes no matter how many times they rematch but I do believe he has a strong chance at beating Pav and Gane. Pav's grappling is not better than Blaydes and he would most likely get rag dolled the same way he did. Then as for Gane, if Almeida get's ahold of him it's very likely over.. BUT Almeida benefits off being faster than his opponents and Gane is just as fast as Almeida so I don't think it's going to be as easy for him to get a hold of him as other's he's fought. He's also going to be looking out for the grappling way more this time around when compared to Francis where no one expected him to go D1.

Bazillion Blanket.
Blankets don't have a 95% finish rate.

Pavlovich hasn't been taken down in almost 6 years. I don't think he's a better pure grappler than Jailton but his TDD+KO power would be a big problem.

Blankets don't have a 95% finish rate.

They do lay in mount on bum wrestlers like Lewis for 5 rounds though. If that's not a blanket, I don't know what is.

Ain't no schtick no gimmicks neither man just keepin' it a buck 💯

Canadan to English Translation:
I like him; however I was a bit disappointed with him taking Lewis to the decision. I get it though...the odds were just too enticing to pass up. Gotta make your money first before going for glory.

I honestly think he annihilates Aspinall and takes the IC belt off of him and becomes the unified champ soon. Aspinall obviously doesn't hit hard enough given his Power Kube score of 45k, which was 10% lower than that of a female Power Slap competitor.
Ok bro, I'm with you, you got somethin to say

I think he will always do good in HW division because it lacks grapplers so much, so many of the HW UFC fights in the modern era are striking only, not many grapplers, so he will always benefit from that

I'm very impressed by him, honestly.

I was a doubter/hater because he is naturally undersized and doesn't have a "real" wrestling background, and those wrestlers that lack a true background look great against non wrestlers but have a history of getting handled when they do face one with real credentials.

I think of Okami or Filho when they faced Sonnen, or someone like Ronnie Markes, or Vemola who both used physicality to dominate lesser opponents, but didn't have a true wrestling background and got shut down once the competition stepped up. Or Arona as another example.

Almeida is just about the only non wrestler I've seen that is basically a one dimensional grappler (GSP is an example but he was effective due to being so efficient at timing takedowns and setting up with strikes.... although he did outgrapple fucking Otto Olsen in PURE GRAPPLING...GSP is a freak but I digress) that is having success against real wrestlers. Although he lost to Blaydes, I was shocked at his early success, as I personally thought he was going to be completely shut down by the real wrestler who is also naturally larger.

Prime Cormier, Stipe, or Jones would be his ultimate kryptonite but they are retired or on the brink of retirement and Almeida is still young for a heavyweight. Aspinall has shown good takedowns but I certainly don't think we can just assume he can deal with defending against Almeida without seeing more evidence, and he has a loss on the ground (granted it was eons ago) and Gane would obviously be like a steak dinner for Almeida.
