What do you do when a guy comes to your door?

If your first reaction to hearing a bump in the night is sheer terror, the rancher life may not be for you. No shame in that. It is not an easy lifestyle (and one that I left when I could. Although, in my case, it was not due to fear of roving bands of ninjas).
Nothing to do with terror.

Tell me what someone who doesn't know you would be doing on your property, right near your house in the dead of night?

They did not come knock on the door, they're just walking about your property. Maybe they checked to see if the doors are locked? You just walk out and say hello unarmed? GTFO.

Don't give me BS about rancher life dude. Strangers milling around your property out in the middle of nowhere in the middle of the night they are not there to just say hello unless they make it real obvious that's what they're doing. And even then, strangers showing up and acting friendly is suspicious.

Has nothing to do with terror. I know my neighbors. My neighbors would not show up unannounced unless it was an emergency and it would be made obvious they needed help. I don't know where you live but where I live you show up on someone's property in the middle of the night sneaking around you probably going to see a gun.

WTF do you do then? Invite them in for coffee so you can be a victim of a home invasion. Moron.

I mean, I ain't looking to shoot someone if I don't have to but you start breaking into my house or I tell you to leave and instead you come at me you're getting shot.

you are not scared but you are in full gear paranoid fever dream territory. now they are "home invaders" breaking into your (probably suburban) home

I lived on a ranch for 18 years. we occasionally had people come to our place in the middle of the night. usually nieghbors. sometimes strangers. dogs bark. yard light comes on. no need to clutch a gun.

I guess you live in the mad max wastelands or whatever. I hope you and your family stay alive.

I lived in Rural areas for 40 years, literally nobody shows up at your door at 3am unannounced unless they have an emergency. There have been home invasions in rural areas just like this scenario. People know the neighbors are a mile or more away so they're not likely to get caught.

Did you know the rates of home invasions are much higher in rural areas? Just because you been lucky doesn't mean being cautious when strangers show up on your property is being paranoid. I never once was in fear on my own property as I never had anyone I didn't know was coming show up at an odd hour unannounced who didn't come right to the door and knock and wasn't someone I knew.

The rise of meth labs and crap in rural areas means there are more desperate people out there than there used to be. There were two home invasions in our rural county just in the last month.

My doors are secured with 3" wood screws. If they don't do anything I'd notice if I were asleep, I assume they are looking for their dog and do nothing. If they go around back or to a window, I get my firearm. I don't answer the door for anyone at night. If they have a car, they can drive to the hospital. If they know me, they can shout.

Get a ouija board and write down a summoning ritual for a handy demon.
It will solve your criminal intruder problems.
Then you'll have to find ways to get rid of the demon.

I dont open the door unless i hear him trying to open the door or fuck with the lock. I dont open the door for people i dont know during the day either. Never had someone try to break in but unknown people do ring the door once in a while. I just assume its someone trying to sell something.
damn, dude tries to put his penis in you lock?

people are freaks

If a guy comes to my door I think to myself, "that's an odd kink. Maybe I'll start an onlyfans where I post pics of my door."

I think you have a lot of good points however I’m glad someone never shot me

I used to deliver election signs and they had a great idea that the night before they were allowed to go up you put them all up at once in one night and didn’t tell people

I live out in the country, sort of. I'm a night owl so I'm always up when the rest of the world is asleep. Last night I'm in my living room solving the worlds problems via internet when a car pulls in my driveway at 4:30 am. I think probably someone just turning around, but they get out and walk up on my lawn waving a flashlight around. This quickly freaks me out (I'm also still pretty toasty from some edibles) and this is a situation that I would've confronted said person with a firearm handy, but alas I have certain issues I've alluded to and it's not in my best interests to own one. So instead I've got my 9 inch Chef's knife that I could run straight through a person, best thing I could find in a pinch. But somehow confronting a person with a giant blade seems a bit extreme and unhinged, and course I don't actually want to stab anyone to death so I stood there for a moment waiting on jibroni's next move. He got back his car and left. I felt rather paranoid for the rest of the night. My wife tells me today it was an Amazon driver, which at least makes sense, but at that hour out here Sat night/Sunday morning, I'm going to assume bad things. And for the record we've got Amazon drivers coming here every day and never has anyone showed up in the buttfuck middle of night like that. I'm not saying they don't it was just unusual for me.

What's your modus operandi if some weirdo comes to your home during the wee hours of the morning? Are you 10 times the man I am and fill the front lawn with uppercuts? Do you draw your pistola and make them strip down to their undergarments, demanding ID and what agency they work for? Do you have a hole already dug in your backyard for this exact scenario? Or do you silently shit yourself and pray to jeebus the bad man goes away? I don't think I would've had the same reaction in a city but out in the sticks it's just me vs. whatever creeps in the night.
Should a stabbed 'im

That's different than what I'm talking about. I think if I would have given permission to have signs on my property I would remember that and not be as suspicious. I'm also talking about people on your property trying to enter your home or messing with your stuff on your property. I would not go out shooting at people in the yard, I would if they were trying to enter the house. I may go get my gun if they start approaching the house, but they would not get shot unless they were first warned and try to enter the home. Like I said in the original post I made, I would call 911 first before doing anything if I thought something was up. I would wait in side and let the cops come but if they tried at all to get in the house or garage they would be shot.

Ha, well people had fights with their spouse right there like they put the lights on in PJ and came outside and said like, I’m not voting for him, yes this family certainly IS, take the sign, leave the sign

I bet...lol

Thing is women hivemind a lot more than men do. Most women will only vote for women or men that come off nice guys all the time. If you're the least bit brash or tell it like it is they ain't voting for them. Lots of couples with differing opinions. I'm not a huge Trump fan but will not vote for Harris but I bet my wife will vote for Harris just because she thinks Trump is a jerk.
