Crime What did the cops do wrong today. Vol. 2

- Ravinder Singh, an Arlintong Texas police officer was responding to a welfare check, about a woman passed out on a grassy are.

- As he approached Margarite Brooks, her 6 month old puppy ran towards the cop barking.

- The cop backs up , pulls his gun and shoots at the puppy. He ends up also shooting the woman while aiming for the puppy. The woman died.

- This happened just over a year ago, but only now did the D.A.'s office bring a charge of negligenct homocide against the cop . After the shooting the cop 'resigned'

- If found guilty of the charge the cops only has to serve a maximum of 2 years in a state jail and $10K fine.

- Father of Margarita Brooks wants involuntary manslaughter charge as the current charge is too leninet.

- Cop is East Indian and victim is White female. Cop was hired in 2018.

Brooks' father said his daughter was waiting for her boyfriend when she was approached by the officer.

"That day she was simply sitting in the shade of a tree with her 6-month-old puppy waiting for her boyfriend to come back from work," he said, questioning why Singh used his gun to stop the dog.

"He had a baton, he had mace, he had Taser. There's a de-escalation of force," Troy Brooks said. "This was a panicked 25-year-old man who was scared of a 6-month-old puppy."

The victim's father , a retired firefighter , said :

Brooks said the police work for the community, but his experience coupled with hundreds of other incidents across the country make him believe that isn’t true.

“It’s not a blue life. It’s a blue shirt. And we paid for it as taxpayers,” he said. “You should work for us. We should define your job, not you.”

Wtf !! I mean WTF.

Some cops go from 1 to 100 in a flash. Why the hell did he even attempt to shoot the dog. Not like it was a fully grown Rott or Pitbull or Presa or Dogo Argentino.

Just back up and see what the puppy wants to do. How much damage can a 6 month old puppy do? He has a baton, he has mace / pepper spray and a stun gun. Why the hell would he shoot it and how the hell could he be soo reckless as to shoot soo haphazardly that he hit the woman.

Because of this POS cop a young woman and mother of 3 is dead.

Why did it take a year to indict the cop ?

Why is the charge soo lenient, 2 years and a $10K fine is an insult to justice. What would have happened if a civilian had shot a cop dead under the similar circumstances.

An anti-police activist or journalist would have done the same under test conditions. @Madmick has studied the research.

If you’re a citizen, you would never in a million years be able to blow away a dog like that. If your kids are around and there’s an unleashed pit bull, by all means, protect the children if you have to.

But yes, reforms to policing are necessary. IRONICALLY, it is the behavior of those in urban (generally African American) ares that make these reforms so difficult because of the danger police (and all normal people) are up against in those areas.
But people in those areas have been abused by police for decades so they have bad interactions with cops . Some cops trump up charges or just find any excuse to harass people. If you keep doing this to a particular community, it is no surprise to have people with a record.

Here is African American astronaut telling how a cop tried to force his girlfriend to falsely accuse the him of rape.

A cop who charged George Floyd with drug charges was later found to have framed lots of people.
According to the article published on June 12, Ogg concluded that Goines likely lied when he arrested Floyd on a minor drug offense for which Floyd served time in state jail.

Thousands of Goines' drug cases are under review or have been dismissed.

I've mentioned this before: Many years ago the cops pulled over Mexican American contractors who were doing work at our house. We lived in a small town and as we were driving by on the main road in town we noticed the guys pulled over. We went over to inquire and the cops, who knew us and we got along with, told us they were pulled over for an incorrect lane change and they were checking their immigration status. The innitial excuse on the lane change was just an excuse to check their legal status.

When I lived out West, my dad , who used to chit chat with local police, told me that they told him they specifically singled out beater cars to pull over. This was an all White area, with part of the area being working class White folks.

There are virtually no Black people out here where I live, but I see the local leos dispropotionaly pull over Black drivers.

Some people either don't believe it , are unaware of it or do not want to admit it, but some cops do harass and pick on certain people.

I don't mean to say that people living in poor urban areas shoulder no blame, I just disagree with the notion that it is the urban community at fault and the cops are just reacting to a tough situation.

This is horrible. Not that this makes it justified but you should always have your dog on a leash. Its not just for other people’s protection but your dogs safety as well. There are a lot of people who are very afraid of dogs and will lash out and hurt your dog if it runs up on them whether it’s friendly or not.

OPs will be merged to this thread when there is no distinctly political character to them. For the latest merge, this woman wasn't taking part in the protests, there wasn't a racial component involving an officer killing a minority, and the offending cop neither went unfired nor uncharged.

I think I've seen the one you're referring to. Video is showing as unavailable.

Dude complies and the cop orders the dog to attack anyway, while he's on his knees?

Wasteland this garbage, link is as busted as this thread.

Man, Utah hitting the news waves for all the wrong reasons lately, including the 13 year autistic kid shot by cops.

Yes that's the one. SHerdog can't embed it, but there is a link 'watch on facebook'. I also put another link.

Trump supporter here. The use of dogs is highly disturbing to me...especially when they just use them in lieu of chasing a suspect.
No knock warrants and the use of canines for attacking should be legislated at the federal level. It probably could have been when tim Scott was begging the left to work with him on legislation. Instead they wanted the issue to run on

No need for me to watch again.

I vehemently oppose the police and military using dogs (or any other animal) as a tool or weapon.

And these cops are pieces of shit who belong behind bars for the rest of their lives.

I saw this by accident a few days ago. It was straight up sadistic, the guy was doing what they wanted then they released the dog and let him go to town while he just laid there screaming and begging them to control the dog.

Seemed like they let the dog chew on him much longer than necessary.

"...much longer than necessary" began the very instant the dog was released. The man was complying.
